I don't know, maybe I need to to learn to chill the hell out.

I get an invite from the owners of a wine distributing company that I do work with. They were having their usual summer bash at their home. Sounded good. The couple that own the business are sweet, friendly people. I know how to avoid the usual wine snobs in attendance and I knew there would be a fine supply of drink flowing, so why not go. Outdoors, bbq'd salmon on the menu, good way to spend a Saturday evening.

After a couple of hours and couple glasses of vino later a few of us stumbled inside and decide to, with approval from the host and hostess, put in the Rolling Stones' "Shine A Light" dvd. Ok, I know the drill: Keith looks like death (fair enough), Mick sounds like crap (not totally fair), their so old (duh), and so on. I mean, really, state the obvious and move along. I've neen listening to the Rolling Stones pretty much since I was born. Granted, I have a good laugh at their wrinkles like the next person. I also have, as a music fan, a huge amount of respect for the incredible legacy of this band.

So, as I hang out with this group of 6 or 7 people chatting and giving their inane opinions of the (band) movie I can't help but get this incredible urge tell them all to shut the fuck up! Give the Stones at least a few props for still giving a shit to put on a show and make some good music. And yes, I do mean good music; A Bigger Bang is a good record.

I realize that life isn't one big Pearl Jam message board where we're all brought together by the same passion, but still, I just don't know how to deal with people's criticisms of bands or musicians when they have no real passion or knowledge of the subject. I mean there was even this women there that said "I think Mick sounded better when he was younger because he looked better." Hello, stupid!?

I did make it out alive with a goody bag that contains a couple bottles of good merlot, crackers, and a couple of pears. Asian pears I think. Score.

And I did cop a really good buzz. ;)

    But those people....

DUDE!!! :D You do need to chill a little. Sounds like a great night! Wish I'd been there. If you can avoid the wine tossers you can avoid the music tossers too. :D

Now do tell what wine you had. :D
    NOPE!!!
