A personal question for you?

Are you the type of person that "shoots from the hip", the type of individual that lets life happen, damn the consequences, no planning necessary? Some one that knows everything will work it self out.
Or
Do you think hard about what ever choices you make, giving thought to every detail and repercussions? Not OCD, but someone that gives careful thought about what choices they make?
Is there a balance?

I'm usually one extreme or the other. Usually I am a planner...and have been known to ruminate about my decisions and drive myself crazy considering every possibility...but with most of my major life decisions I've just gone with my gut. I think with the things I've done that have seemed impulsive it's probably more that I have done some underground ruminating and then finally come to a decision and acted on it quickly. There's a light when my baby's in my arms0

Just depends. As you can see form my flying post I am already planning(stressing) about my trip to SC. I am in charge of the fund raiser there and am really stressing about it!
Luckily my oldest dd will be with me and she is very outgoing and very much the opposite of me and she is very much looking forward to the party. She even asked if she would have access to a microphone the whole time so she can make comments. I swear I have no idea where she came from.
Really it just depends. I like to think I am fairly laid back, but at times I really like to have strict plans in place. To 10c; "Your PJ tshirt should be tight enough to show you're a woman and loose enough to show you're a lady." - bionicamy0 -
I give careful thought to most decisions that I make that will have a large impact on my life, but there are always things outside of your control. If you think about decisions, I don't see that as "letting life happen" any less. You're still letting it happen, just in a way that best suits you.
How can you stop life happening? Whatever happens, happens. You just have to deal with whatever comes your way as best you can. Things always happen, some within your control and some outside. That all makes up life.~AKA Dave-of-the-dead~

I usually just let it go and "shoot from the hip" as you said. I just see it as everything will be okay.
The way I see it, the times I ever planned it out and thought about it all the time it either turned out to not be as good as originally planned, or not as bad as originally thought it was going to be...
So I just go with it. If I realize I make a mistake, then I fix it. No big deal, well sometimes it's a big deal, but whatever. We just move on. In the end, it's life, and it's only your life, so only you deal with it.
Of course there's other circumstances that are different as far as who's dealing with it, etc, but if it's personal, then it tends to only be you. So yeah, I just go for it.0 -
Good insight......I just had to ask because I know people who go about doing it one way or the other, and there seems to be no reason as to who is better off?BRING BACK THE WHALE0

Not a very personal question, IMO.0

yes i act first and then deal with the consequences when and if they come. however when you come up against a person who takes a logical approach in direct opposition to you, it kinda throws you and frustrates the hell out of you. and all your best intentions come to a grinding halt.hear my name

I think everything through very carefully....
I have a disabled brother a year younger than me and once mum and dad pass away, he'll be living with me for the rest of his life. If I fuck up, I fuck up his life as well. So everything is planned and thought out.★ 1995 - Brisbane ★ 1998 - Brisbane ★ 2003 - Brisbane ★ 2006 - Brisbane ★

Both! Some things simply require careful thought and planning and other things it's better if you just fly by the seat of your pants and ride the wave so to speak.
I think there's definitely a balance. It's all in how you interpret the situation and recognize which way to approach it. Sometimes I am good at that and sometimes not so good but it's all a learning curve.NOPE!!!

Hold on to the thread

I tend to fly by the seat of my pants for most things. I do not like having to plan my future out. I like to see where it will take me. My husband on the other hand likes to have these five-year vision plans. When he asks for a commitment from me I just kinda shrug and say sounds good or not going to happen. Works for us. Seems to be a nice yin-yang thing going."What the CANUCK happened?!? - Esquimalt Barber Shop0

I'm right in the middle. I have a slight case of OCD, so I definitely plan a lot of things out and like when plans stick, but there are times when I love having nothing planned for a weekend and I just wing it.Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"0 -
I am definitely NOT a planner. I take things as they come, figure out what to do when the time comes...0
-
I'm pretty much relaxed about where things are going. I ride the wave where it takes me
Having said that, I sometimes do worry if I coast along too much and should take more control of things."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -
I love seeing where things end up... usually the worst situations lead to the best of times... it's all so random. Things ALWAYS work out for the better... it may take a while but I'm well aware of how blessed I've been til now
However, when it comes to BIG decisions, I seem to wait for THEM to happen and sort themselves out (the way the littler decisions do) but of course this doesn't happen. The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable

Some people think I'm anal about planing, then other people think I make irrational choices. Which I don't think go together.
Do you think the difference between the two is the degree of worry? Or if people really care if its succsessful?BRING BACK THE WHALE0 -
I hardly ever plan things. I like to "ride the wave" and see where it takes me.
I done SO many fun things and traveled so many places that way. It's awesome. All my friends think i've got some screws loose but whatever, you're only going this way once, right?<a href="http://www.last.fm/user/Krisdababe/?chartstyle=Krisdababe"><img src="http://imagegen.last.fm/Krisdababe/recenttracks/Krisdababe.gif" border="0" /></a>

I obsess about little details of decisions, but ultimately I just kind of let whatever happens happen. It's weird and contradictory, but it seems to be working for me.0

I just take it as it comes.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

It depends. For life changing decisions, I try to plan it out and analyze possible outcomes to try and make the best decision that I can. The little things I don't have to plan out as much and am much more go with the flow.0
