I'd like to buy a t-shirt, but I can only get the one I want online from a US store. Will I be charged tax on this item when I recieve it?
What the fuck is this world?

You shouldn't do. Theoretically you can get charged on anything over I think it's £18 ... but often if it's not much over you won't get charged. If you do get charged though the Post Office charge a handing fee which I think is £8.
You can check http://www.hmrc.gov.ukSo are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?0 -
Thanks for the info. I checked and found this;
If you buy goods online from a country outside the European Union, for instance the USA, Canada, China, Australia
You will be charged:
* Customs duty if the amount of duty is €10 (£7)* or over
Kinda sucks.What the fuck is this world?0 -

Yeah but the value of the goods to get custom duty over £7 will be less than a t-shirt I would think.
I've got stuff from 10C and never been charged.So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?0 -

I did. Year's back, i bought a few t-shirts, and some vinyl's from 10club. Canada post didn't leave the packages at my house. The delivery slip had a charge of 20 bucks I had to pay when I pick it up at the post office.
I bought a few shirts & vinyl's though one UK site too, and I wasn't paid any customs fees on it. The mail service is weird sometimes.0 -
Strange. Makes me kinda weery. Ahh screw it, it's only one shirt. I doubt they're gonna charge me £20.demetrios wrote:I did. Year's back, i bought a few t-shirts, and some vinyl's from 10club. It depends on who delivers the post really. Some courier companies (the likes of DHL or whatever) may pass no remarks. I know An Post here are pretty vigilant. I think the max is €25, that includes shipping, and they will tax on the shipping. If you can, get the item marked as a gift (most companies won't do this though) and you won't get charged customs tax on it.0
