and if Brett was so Avg. why does he then own more records then any other QB ? yeah i know, he threw the most interceptions blah blah blah, but when you pass as much as the packers had him passing, that will happen.

I should write a journal article on Brett Favre and the ridiculous amounts of love that guy gets. Yeah he was pretty good, great-ish even, though probably only the best QB in the league for a two season stretch. Even Kurt Warner has done that. What Favre did was tap into the inner racist in white people, the gunslinglin' hard nosed, blue collar work ethic that we white people just all adore...ugh. The funny thing is that if Favre were not white he'd be a drug addicted (vicodin) animal killer (his love of hunting) with PETA all over him, but he's Brett Favre father of Jesus Christ, and the mother of nature, so he can do no wrong. Why aren't more people on him for using drugs to break the record for games started in a row? Is he any less of a cheater than Bonds or Clemens? I personally think Favre is a fuck who got away with a whole lot, and was built up in the media for playing his part as a southern gentlemen to perfection. good riddance.
This is the worst post in the history of this forum. Farve had a pain killer problem, yet who doesn't in the NFL? He was man enough to see his problem, admit, and change it. More than anyone else has done in the NFL. That racist comment is pure shit. Favre never used steroids or anything to help him win. Players are constantly getting pain shots and pills to help them play. Remember, Favre was off alcohol and pain pills for the last 10 plus years of his career, when he broke the streaks, etc.

So baseball had a steroids problem does that make Bonds and Clemens any less of a cheater? Favre got through that streak partially b/c he abused drugs so that he could play. And for those that think Favre's ironman streak isn't a part of his legacy then they are crazy...it's part of what made him that "hard nosed" performer, blue collar work ethic, blah, blah. Race definitely has something to do with the way he is received in the popular media, it just does. If you don't believe me you should have seen First Take yesterday when Skip Racist, I mean Bayless, asked the Two Live Stu's to speak for all black people on whether or not "they" loved Brett Favre. Their response was telling in that they recognized his greatness, but didn't necessarily enjoy the undue love Favre continued to get during his suck years. And yes Brett God Jesus Christ Mother Nature Favre did suck for a three year period.

Incorrect. That is one of the first things that people (at least Packer fans around the Illinois/Wisconsin state line) bring up.

    3 consecutive MVP's (unprecedented)

Anyone who puts value in MVP awards puts too much faith in the Associated Press. Really, a bunch of journalists get to decide who the best player in a league is? It's a matter of opinion amongst these people, and no one should have to take someone's opinion as truth. It's often a popularity contest, and their precious "Brett" easily could've benefitted from that. There have been some glaring mistakes in MVP voting.

    Get it over with already...

Brett Favre is supposed to make a decision on whether or not his reign of terror is over in the near future. The sooner the better. Last year he kept his fans hostage with "will he or won't he" crap and subjected the rest of us to further Favre coverage shoved down our throats. It was unnecessary and it was annoying. We already have to put up with constant Favre crap from September to January, but last year we got the summer months to boot. And if this summer is the same...I have no idea what I'd be capable of.

What's so great anyway? The fact that he led a team to a Super Bowl by beating the infant Carolina Panthers, then outdueled Drew freakin' Bledsoe of all people in the big game? You know who else has quarterbacked Super Bowl Championship teams? Brad Johnson. Trent Dilfer. Ben Roethlisberger. Mark Rypien. Jeff Hostetler. Names that will ring throughout the ages...with the distinct sound of mediocrity. So don't give me the Favre is just a winner argument. Don't tell me that he gets it done when it counts, his record in the playoffs is just above .500. His records are a testament to the fact that he just won't go away and that he throws so much. His positive stats of td's, yards, and completions are extremely relative to his attempts and interceptions.

Oh, his durability. Great. He somehow never got hurt. Don't forget about this though. If they want to put asteriks next to home run records, they should put an asterik next to Brett Favre's consecutive game played streak. Why not? If steroids help you hit home runs, vicodin helps you play football when you're hurt. Plus, I've read conspiracy theories that he could've been suspended over the situation, but the NFL wanted to keep Brett's precious streak going. Anyway, potentially equally loathable Peyton "Goober" Manning has a shot at busting that streak.

How about the time that he helped out a similarly overhyped player...on another team. You remember, c'mon. When Mike Strahan was hunting down the most sacks in a season award, and good old Brett decided to just fall down when Strahan was near him? It's called cheating, the game, his fans, and his team. But no one seemed to care. It would be the same as a hockey goalie letting in a goal so some overrated media darling could have a scoring record. Acceptable? No.

Nobody in the media is allowed to say a negative thing about him. Everybody has to give him respect. So everytime there's a game or highlight show, they have to make obligatory comments about how he just keeps getting it done. By "it", they must mean force throws into coverage, throw picks, overthrow receivers, and when something goes well, jump up and down so people can say how much fun he's having. He's not a legend. He's a fabricated legend.

Enough ranting. Keep your junk clean.

I will respectfully honor the wishes of those who started the other Brett Favre thread (for no negativity), but I will start my own. Anyone else hate Brett Favre? I liked him back in the day, but when he started his whiny, diva-like primadona off season soap operas, I just lost it.

As for his play on the field, Brett was a slightly above-average quarterback who threw far too many interceptions. He isn't even the third best quarterback of the last two decades (Brady, Payton and Elway have him beat in that regard, and Roethlisberger is closing in as well.)
if you hate brett favre you hate america. and i'm ashamed you are from pittsburgh even saying this. surely you must have more football sense.

I think he's in the top 5 QB's of all time.

He's a guy who delt with his demons with class, and was pretty honest about it with his team and the public. Vicodin and alcohol are not performance enhancing drugs. It's a double edged sword....take pain killers and play....or you don't take them and don't play (then he'd be called a wuss). And I'm pretty sure 104% of all players in all pro sports take pain killers.

On the field..... Look at the players he played with....he was surrounded by average players most of his career, and below average players for the end of his career. Can you name a single offensive player that Favre played with, that would even be considered for the Hall of Fame? And Reggie was the only defensive player that's HOF worthy.

Of course I hated him when he played the Seahawks....that's because he was so damm good!

Name a single positive NFL record that those guys hold.

On the other hand, those guys have something that only 30'ish other NFL QB's have ever recieved. That's pretty good company.
