Anyone currently trying to get pregnant?

Its weird though, when I was a teenager I totally thought that pretty much one act of unprotected sex made you pregnant. (Okay, I actually thought that longer then my teenage years) I wish I had more education when it came to that subject. Its hard to wrap my head around the fact that it takes people that are perfectly healthy with no fertility issues many months sometimes to conceive.
It's funny to look back at that kinda thing.0 -
well I'm certainly in no rush lol, but imo, havin kids at that age is disgustingly selfish :mad:cutback wrote:relax girls....you've got plenty of time apparently...
NEW DELHI (AFP) – An Indian woman has given birth to her first child at the age of 70 after receiving IVF treatment, newspapers reported her doctor as saying Monday.
Rajo Devi, who married 50 years ago, gave birth to a baby girl on November 28 after in vitro fertilisation, said Anurag Bishnoi, a doctor at the Hisar fertility centre in Haryana state.
"Rajo Devi and (her husband) Bala Ram approached the centre for treatment and the embryo transfer was done on April 19," he told the Hindustan Times. "Both the mother and child are in good health."
Bishnoi claimed Devi was the world's oldest mother.
Another 70-year-old Indian was reported to have given birth to twins via IVF in July this year, while a 66-year-old Spanish woman had twins in 2006.
Devi's husband, aged 72, had also wed his wife's sister after 10 years of his first marriage did not result in children. His second wife also failed to become pregnant.
It was not clear whose egg and sperm were used in the successful treatment.
"IVF has revolutionised the way we look at infertility," said Bishnoi. "Infertility is no longer a social taboo or a divine curse. It can be treated scientifically."

As I get older . . . I have to say that unconditional love can be expressed at any age . . . eh?Heineken Helen wrote:well I'm certainly in no rush lol, but imo, havin kids at that age is disgustingly selfish
This story is odd, I'll grant you that no problem. When I'm 70 I plan on learning to belly dance, and getting tattoes of all my favorite dogs on my toes, but I digress.
Anyway, maybe the man who divorced the one wife because she couldn't get pregnant is a lowclassscumfuckwad in some way forcing the wife to do this through threats of some sort (let's just add unverified drama to the entire story), but if a woman chooses the time to be pregnant who else draws the line? There is no such thing as leftover pizza. There is now pizza and later pizza. - anonymous

I think it's selfish cos it's highly unlikely you'll live to see your kids 10th birthday.
There's a very high chance your kids will be orphaned before they even make it to school. It's ridiculous... and never mind that, how are ya gonna cope with a baby at 70? it's tough at any age... and your kid will have the added stigma of being asked about their 'grandparents' all the time.
It's selfish cos you're doing it for you... people should only bring kids into the world if they can offer them a good life and, at 70, you cannot say that. The Astoria??? Orgazmic!

I'm tempted to just start trying now...but the rational side of my brain says we should wait till my immigration status is finalized and I have a job and blah blah blah.GraySaturday wrote:Oh yeah?!

Does getting pregnant help your immigration status any??

I wish! But I think it would just make it harder. Since I'm going on a work visa and being pregnant would probably make it harder to get hired, I think it would hurt my application. The baby would be an Australian citizen...but I wouldn'tGraySaturday wrote:Does getting pregnant help your immigration status any??

Australian rules and laws are a bit fast and loose. If you become blood sisters with a red kangaroo, your citizenship will be granted.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

The trick is to get the blood from the roo on a voluntary basis. Most people just wind up getting clobbered in a boxing match.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

my sister married an australian citizen in Ireland (he's Irish born) and they had a kid in Ireland... and THEN applied for permanent residency... it took a few months but they'd no problems.comebackgirl wrote:I wish! yeah I think with a fiancee visa it would probably help my case, but with a work visa I'm afraid it would hurt it since my visa is based on me getting a job in my field and we know how employers love to hire newly pregnant women! Plus I'd like him to be part of the pregnancyHeineken Helen wrote:my sister married an australian citizen in Ireland (he's Irish born) and they had a kid in Ireland... and THEN applied for permanent residency... it took a few months but they'd no problems.
