Don't get me wrong, there is much more to do in Chi-town.....but you must be blind if you can't find anything to do in GR

Yeah, Michigan is fucked economy wise and Detroit's mayor is a Class A Thug, but with all that, I think even more that Pearl Jam should come as a Morale Booster to Jammies in the area. Canucks and Ohioans would come and they would assist in pumping much needed mula into our nearly ruined economy.

See. It could happen, if the right people pay attention to this thread.

A special Detroit area concert to benefit the depressed jammies of the area.

ps. don't consider DTE (formerly Pine Knob) because it super sucks and fan club seats are forfeited over season ticket holder asswipes.

FUCK The detroit pistons, (During comatose)

and to think the pistons were fortunate enough to play an unmotivated lakers team or they would have been the woulda coulda shoulda of the east.

    No, Chris, no!!!! :)

I'm taking Economics this quarter...and I'm laughing at my imaginary economist intern trying to convince PJ's financial advisors into coming to Detroit. :D;)

    No to Pine Knob!!

Except Michigan's economy isn't too hot [not that anyone's is] and the state is blue collar, so you fuckers should travel to us! :D

Maybe it's time to shift the economy to something other than shite cars? LOL - just kidding, I have owned one American car before (a 1994 Chevy Beretta) and it was awesome.

I lived in Michigan for 4 years - attended some of the best concerts of my life, at some of the best venues, with some of the best crowds.

Whhaaaat?? The Pistons handed it to the extremely motivated, but dysfunctional Lakers. They proved it no fluke by taking San Antone to to the brink the next year. If the Pistons get motivated (they are not) they will win this year.

I think Detroit will get skipped next tour, the 06 show did not sell like 03,00, and 98. Of course it was a Monday, it was friggin an hour north of the city in Auburn Hills (Detroiters are too cool to travel), and it was Piston time, but still. They should play in one of the many venues in Detroit, not the suburbs. There is much better energy. A dangerous energy that only Detroit (or possibly Washington DC) can provide. Play Detroit, cover the MC5, make everybody happy.......

    Then play Grand Rapids.

Yes yes well said, I like.

Wherever they decide to play, it can be pretty much guaranteed that any and all Michigan shows would sell better and faster than the south dates, slumping economy or not!

edit: although I don't agree necessarily that Detroit will be skipped; certainly hope not.

They don't wanna come to Detroit cuz they'll get shot! J/K I'm a Yooper and I went to Kendall in GR for college. I love D-town and I'd move there (i.e. the burbs, you know what I mean) in a heartbeat if I could. I spent one summer there doing an internship. Lived by Royal Oak.

I think the GR show was a COMPLETE SUPRISE, and one of the best I've ever seen! A big eye opener to everyone. Coming into it I had seen Chicago I & II, and I just thought GR would be a "so, so last hurrah". Boy was I wrong! Ed even stopped during on of the encoures and said "Grand Rapids, who knew?" LOL You could tell they were feeding of the energy and that's what made the show special. The 1st encoure was a FANTASTIC chill, low tempo set, and the 2nd one.....FUCK!!!! That was the hardest set I've ever seen them play!!!! DTE, Comatose, Satan's Bed, Blood, and Baba! Prior to that I kept saying "Comatose is the new fucking blood!" Then they played both, and I must bow down to Blood again as Heavyweight champion! :)

I seriously have a hard time deciding if this show was better then Alpine 03, it's pretty much a dead heat tie. What surprised me most is the boys probably said "eh, what the hell we might as well play there cuz it's on the way" like everyone else does. LOL I don't know if GR (or even MI for that matter like you guys have been saying) is a strong enough market, but man was that show special.
    I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind - E.V.

I'm not going to be greedy and ask for 3 Michigan shows, just one, in Detroit, real Detroit, like downtown at the Joe Louis arena or Cobo Hall.

We're not on the West coast and we ain't on the East coast. Show us some love.

    That's all I'm askin'. :)

cobo??? no way dude. way too small and not the best place to see a concert........ butttttt that place does hold a spot in my heart since its the place i saw my first concert (without my parents i mean lol). it was weezer when they toured the green album.... just in case anyone is wondering. joe louis is alright, but DTE is the best place in the detroit area.

I saw my first concert at Cobo in 1983: Duran Duran. :D

Yeah, Cobo may be a tad too small, so I prefer the Joe, or several shows at the Fillmore or Fox.

Pine Knob/DTE, it's in the boonies and again, no Ten Club preferred seating - a big NOT COOL.

Playing in downtown D has loads of economical and morale advantages. :)

ps. Ed was only fucking with us about the Pistons, the previous night in Cleveland, I think the Pistons kicked the shit out of the Cavs.

Unmotivated??? Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the Lakers playing for their 4th title in 5 years??? A chance to be considered one of the greatest basketball teams of all time should have had them plenty motivated... Not to mention Karl Malone and Gary Payton were trying to piggyback on Shaq and Kobe for their 1st titles... Please don't try to talk shit when you don't have a clue what you are talking about...
