I posted a long list on my blog, linked below, but here's the short list of things I thought were good about 2008. Sorry, some are Chicago only. Would like to hear what others enjoyed!

* Ninetendo Wii, Wii Fit gathering dust though, Guitar Hero addiction
* Wine Woot – until my wife’s pregnancy
* Trader Joe’s Frozen Section
* Hulu.com
* Good Beers
* Top Chef
* Twitter
* TheraFlu
* Consumerist.com
* iPhone
* AWD on our Subaru Outback, saved me when two test cars got stuck in ice in 2008
* Goddess and the Grocer
* Canon G9 and Flickr for all the great shots of Carter and being able to share them
* Cheap 4GB memory cards
* Amazon, cheap everything, fast free shipping
* Sound isolating headphones for business travel
* NFL Network
* Chicago Air Show viewing from our own building
* Dr. Who on SciFi

    * The Christmas presents and cards I gave, being appreciated
    * Getting everything I wanted (and more) for Christmas :D

    2008 has been amazing :)
    Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

    ... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    Going back to being semi-retired and being able to work in the yard again and do other things I had missed doing since my volunteer job went full time. Yikes!
    Our daughter/son-in-law buying their first home together and being able to visit and see how great it is.
    Seeing Ed solo 3x, and having our family there for one of them, and helping Wishlist at all 3, and meeting pit people old and new at all 3.
    Having a wonderful snow that lasted for 3 weeks which gave us a white Christmas and stayed long enough for our dog to finally learn to play in it.
    Visiting an old client that I've had since 1971 but haven't seen since 1995.
    Knowing that GWB is finally out of the White House.
    Being healthy ourselves and also everyone close to us.
    Trader Joe's opening in Bellingham, although that happened late 2007, I'm still grateful and enjoyed it much in 2008! (Since the op mentioned it!)

    -Going to LA for bachelor party & seeing Eddie at the Wiltern
    -3 EV shows, 3 PJ shows
    -last BUT NOT Least... THE NY GIANTS winning the Super Bowl.
    -Did I mention going to the Superbowl in AZ where the Giants won.

    Hearing my neice(age 13) play violin for the first time. 2 months at it and she is a natural. Awesome moment!
