  • All the Scream films - neither scary nor funny.

All the Spiderman films - everything looks fake and too cgi.

The American Pie movies - sorry, i just do not find these funny.

    Armageddon - AWFUL film.

Anything with the truly appaling Nicholas Cage, the worst actor of all time apart from Tom Cruise.

Two Cage films which are genius for different reasons:

'The Wicker Man' (remake) had me rolling around laughing at every second... so bad it's funny.

And 'Adaptation' is actually an excellent film, on all accounts.
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

I have to admit I want to see Adaptation, just for Chris Cooper and it does look pretty good.....

but Nicholas Cage's face is so....gormless.....

I can't stand Nicholas Cage either. He's a horrible actor, and so very annoying.

I went out and bought brokeback mountain last weekend, mainly because Heath Ledger had just died and I was curious to see one of his movies. This was his most popular movie and the film that made him a big star. It was nominated for all kinds of oscars, including best picture and I read a review of Ledger's performance saying it was something of a miracle, and the movie is a modern-day classic, etc, etc....

I thought it was good at best. No miracles here. Although maybe it should have won for best picture, because I still think it was better than Crash, which was probably the most undeserving best picture since Unforgiven...

Now that he's dead, every single one of his performances will be viewed as something miraculous... Not that he wasn't a great actor, I'm just saying it's like the same way that Kurt Cobain is viewed as some sort of demi-god to a lot of people these days.
And before his first step... He's off again...

I thought you were making good points until the end. Reservoir Dogs was way more of a mental junk food movie then Pulp Fiction. You have to remember that no movie looked like Pulp Fiction before it was released and now you get 10 copies every year but none of them can touch the original.

Well, I saw Reservoir dogs at the cinema and I'd not seen anything like it before. I don't know anything about movie making but It seemed like the camera's he used and the movement of the cameras - hand held? - made it look very realistic. The dialogue was also spot on.
Pulp Fiction just did nothing for me.

I hate Nicolas Cage too. Something to note in his films: ever notice that he ALWAYS has to cop-a-feel or make out with the female lead? no matter how irrelevant it is to the plot. I truly believe he makes the director add these scenes so he can get a bonner or something.

National Treasure and Lord of War are the gayest movies I've ever seen.

I am glad to see all of the Nicolas Cage hate on the board. I truly cannot stand to watch a movie he is in.

A guy in work loaned me Minority Report, with Tom Cruise.
He's been banging on how it's his favourite ever movie. It wasn't my thing at all, it was ok, I nodded off before the end. How could anyone select a 'run of the mill' movie like this to be their best ever?
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

even the presence of colin farrell couldn't elevate this movie for me. not to mention the entire premise of the film went against one of my most strident beliefs.

I must admit that I agree with those who have said Pulp Fiction.

I've seen it a number of times...and maybe I just don't get it? There are some good moments for sure...but it just didn't live up to the hype for me...at all.

    Ah well. :)

Me too, do you mean that by the time we can predict the future, and drive around in 'sideways' cars on roller coaster type roads, we may well live in slightly different looking houses?
    That's my strident belief.

It wasn't that we found we could predict the future, it was these poor 3 "children", the pre-cogs that could see someone committing a crime before it happens and offer up images that Tom Cruie's character had to figure out.
Also the overwhelming presense of Big Brother was a quite important in this film.
It scared me in that you could not hide, go undetected.
I found it very interesting regardless of my own personal belief system.
Am I in the minority here? Pun intended.
