ARC?
I don't get it.
If you like all that tribal moaning, you should pick up the Eddie Vedder sings with the Walmer High Scool Choir album. Plenty of that stuff on there with Betterman and LBC tossed in there. 15 in a row that make me feel like I am at a screening of the Lion King or even smack dab in the middle of a rain forest somewhere, about to get my head shrunk.
They should have cut Arc from that album and put Sad at track number 3.
Of course... just another opinion...
But seriously... What gives with the Arc following?

It has something to do with the fans who died at Roskilde in 2000.0

yeah, what animal said, its just a beatiful tribute to the 9 fans that died at roskilde, and that could have happened to any of us at GA PJ shows, so its just a respect thing.

i think he could have come up with something, infact he did:
LOVE BOAT CAPTAIN
Is this just another day,... this God forgotten place?
First comes love, then comes pain. let the games begin,...
Questions rise and answers fall,... insurmountable.
Love boat captain
Take the reigns and steer us towards the clear,... here.
Its already been sung, but it cant be said enough.
All you need is love
Is this just another phase? earthquakes making waves,...
Trying to shake the cancer off? stupid human beings,...
Once you hold the hand of love,.. its all surmountable.
Hold me, and make it the truth,...
That when all is lost there will be you,...
Cause to the universe I dont mean a thing
And theres just one word I still believe
And its
Its an art to live with pain,... mix the light into grey,..
Lost 9 friends well never know,.. 2 years ago today
And if our lives became too long, would it add to our regret?
And the young, they can lose hope cause they cant see beyond today,...
The wisdom that the old cant give away
Hey,...
Constant recoil...
Sometimes life
Dont leave you alone.
Hold me, and make it the truth,...
That when all is lost there will be you.
Cause to the universe I dont mean a thing
And theres just one word that I still believe and its
Love,... love. love. love. love.
Love boat captain
Take the reigns,.. steer us towards the clear.
I know its already been sung,... cant be said enough.

Love,.. love,...

I was asking about how Arc translates into a memorial? Is it just your interpretation? Is it written or spoken somewhere? or are we just left to assume?Gets up, lights a cigarette he's grown to hate

But seriously... What gives with the Arc following?
What has been reported.
During the initial time Ed was processing (for lack of a better word) the Roskilde tragedy the pain and emotion of that event came out in the form you hear in ARC. 9 layers of vocal representing the 9 lives. With a tragedy of that magnitude you have to realize that sometimes you can't just write words.. Some events and emotions cannot be put into words. If you take the time to listen to ARC (ideally with headphones) and let the sound sink into you it is an amazing piece of work. To me the pain and emotion really comes through. I've never heard anything like it and personally I feel words would've taken away from this piece...0 -

Couldn't have said it any better, like Sue I too agree with this."Without the album covers, where do you clean your pot?" - EV0 -
Arc live is the closest thing I have ever felt to religion. It rips me wide open.0

my loving the way he does it love on the solo tour has nothing to do with Roskilde or respect for those who died. I didnt know those people, and while it is extremely unfortunate that it happened and I hope it never happens again to any band/fans, I dont sit in a dark room, listen to LBC on repeat and cry on the anniversary.
however, you have to listen to Arc and hear the emotion that is being expressed without words. I assume Ed learned that style (qawali) from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and it is certainly more than just sounds, there is a lot of emotion in there, and it sounds like pain to me.-

I agree. It is pretty awesome.0 -
One of the things in their official statement after the tragedy was: "there are no words". I think ARC is a lament and a musical expressions of their (and particularly Ed's) feelings afterward. Seeing it live is hard to describe. When you watch/hear it live, it feels like you're almost where you shouldn't be, like inside his head, or his consciousness has expanded to envelope the whole room, but he's choosing to give that to you. It is very powerful.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.
