I love Panera, but Specialty's is better, not sure if it's outside the Bay Area, but it's growing...peanut butter & stuff, and the bbq chicken sandwiches are amazing.

I'm with you on that one. Plus they try to play themselves off as healthy a little too much. Check out their nutrition info and see that they're really not, especially their salads (comparitively).

Panera's is pretty good stuff fora big chain. I also like Rising Roll, but i'm not sure how far reaching they are as a chain.

That said i usually like going to non chains for my subs or sandwiches.

  • Ill have to try this Panera's place if I'm ever in the area. I'm always on the quest for the world's best "sangweech."

If you're ever in Toronto, try "The Sandwich Box" on Queen st. Definitely puts up a good fight for best sandwich spot in the world.

They definitely are not. I've eaten there a few times and Panera isn't even as good as Subway.

Firehouse subs or Jersey Mike's have the best by far.

Panera isn't as good as Subway?!?!?! You gotta be kidding me?!?!

I don't know of those other places you've mentioned and I'm not saying Panera is the best sandwich shop but Subway somehow barely qualifies as "food". Subway is simply terrible!
  • Panera is great. I also really like Schlotzky's. I don't think they are out here... I haven't seen one anyway.

There may be one in the Smith haven mall on Lond island. There was a Vincent's Italian Rest, that became Ben's Kosher Deli, and now there's a newer place, with a weird name. may be that place, don't remember for sure
