Did anyone see "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" last night?

Saw it last night and was a bit disappointed. Felt like it should have been funnier but it was missing something. The scene with the Beatles was hilarious though! Ed was great. The guys a pro. Mr Hollywood!0

Saw it last Friday. Gonna try and watch it again next week. It was funny as hell. The Apatow Company is amazing. Close 2nd to View Askew Productions Crew (A Kevin Smith joint).
Tim Meadow must do another Ladies Man movie. He must. "Dewey, you don't want no part of this shit." hahahaha.0 -
they cut Dewey's line to ed
In the original trailer Dewey responds to Ed by saying, "thank you Mr. VEEder."
it didnt make the cut i guess for the film.0 -
vedderislove wrote:i agree about the movie. i had low expectations, though, so it wasn't a HUGE disappointment, but still not as funny as i'd hoped. the bob dylan parody was funny though. and it was awesome to see ed's cameo.
i was actually a little surprised they had no mention of eddie's name. i feel like there are a lot of 13 year old kids who wouldn't have a clue who he is...
in one of the trailer's i saw earlier this summer, dewey says "well thank you eddie veeeder."---i guess they cut that part out! sons of bitcheswww.myspace.com0 -

they also cut the part when we was advertising the sausages. "if it doesn't say cox. then it doesn't taste like cox"

Lol at Tim always getting him addicted to different drugs.
The Ed part was pretty funny "He's been called the giant midget". He also referenced Neil Young and various other rock stars (Iggy Pop etc.) and compared them with Biblical figures.
Overall a kind of slow comedy (no where near as funny as Superbad) but still really funny in parts.
Thank god for those blankets. Ha.
You know what? I liked Superbad. I almost think Walk Hard was funnier. I dunno. I like how completely self-aware WH is. Like, obviously, John C. Reilly could never pass for a teenager, so they keep reminding you how old he is in the dialogue. "I think I'm doing pretty well for a 15-year-old with a wife and a kid." Even though he looks 37.
I also like how he refers to almost every famous person by their full name.
"Hey there, Buddy Holly."
"Great set, Elvis Presley."
"What do you think, George Harrison of the Beatles?"
As if the audience wouldn't know who it was supposed to be without Dewey Cox name dropping.
I guess I'm just entertained by some really offbeat shit.
And, yeah, the Tim Meadows scenes were great.

Like many of the other posters, I liked the movie, but not as much as Apatow's other recent projects. Jenna Fischer (and her boobs), Ed, Elvis, The Beatles and Tim Meadows were the highlights. I wish Tim Meadows was in every movie. He's easily my favourite SNL alum. Just seeing his face on screen brings me a huge smile.
"You never even paid for drugs. Not once."“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’” - Kurt Vonnegut0 -
yea i hear ya...i gues i just had too high expectations going in. hopefully this will be even a smidget of how funny anchor man was on succesive viewings. i was disapointed in the theater. but the 2nd viewing and subsequent 100 viewings made it one of the most funny movies i've ever seen...walk hard. thats my motto. thats my creeed!slightofjeff wrote:You know what? fsu2626 wrote:good movie, his part was just like his other RNR HOF inductions (REM, Ramones) but the speech written for him was a little over the top.
funny, I thought the exact opposite thing. I thought it wasn't over the top enough. If they really wanted to goof on an ed introduction, they should have done a time lapse (hours have passed) and show people in the audience sleeping and rolling their eyes. as it is, it's kind of used to give cred to the mythology of dewey cox.
the movie was okay. the music is awesome, John c. reily is fantastic and tim meadows steals every scene he's in (as usual).0 -
I saw the movie last night and thought it was hilarious! Things were so over the top and just plain ridiculous (as a previous poster mentioned when he was supposed to be 14 and his girlfriend was supposed to be 12). I was laughing throughout the whole movie. I didn't go because Eddie was in it; I thought the trailer looked pretty funny, but seeing Eddie in it was very nice too.0

I saw the trailer when I was watching "Superbad" with some friends. When I saw Eddie I was like "Wait let me rewind it, I wana see it again!".Pirates had democracy too.
"Its a secret to everybody."0 -
I actually thought Eddies bit was one of the funniest. Some of the nicknames he was throwing around..."He has been known as the Shape Shifter, the White Indian" were all just hilarious. And hearing him say it as serious as he was made my day.
I wish I could remember all the nicknames he was coming up with.0 -

Yep, good ol' Eddie. That part was great! I loved the biblical comparisons, and yes saying it serious made it hilarious.

"I want an army...of 50,000 Digerydoos"
I died at that part.0 -
just saw it last week. it was pretty consistently funny, some stuff fell flat though. i guess its pretty difficult to maintain a straight-ahead parody for the entire length of a movie. eddie's part was great, but i wish they had said his name or something.
"now he needs more blankets!"
"I don't need you, you're a baby. if anything, you need me!"0
