ok, second concert was very different from the first. heaps of new songs, 8 in total i think, the whole day was nice until about 6pm when it piss down, it had be 2 days when i last experienced rain that heavy, and last time it fucked my cell phone and digital camera.
once again my morning jacket was brillant.
pearl jam were beautiful, the crowd was more into it than marseille, and the band feed off it.
a huge difference in setlist from marseille, the my sarona(my varona) was classic, i have heaps of pic and videoss, many of then blurry, i will post them in a couple of weeks
and also i brought a limited edition hoodie.

    go the stages
    mike

Haha thats awesome man, I think you meant the Stags though...they're doing pretty good. You are the envy of us all.

And make sure if theres a flag going up at a concert its probably gotta be a map of us or something, I dunno if the band would realise its our flag and not an Australian one at a glance.
Its been 8 years, but I still believe...PJ in NZ 06!

Ha ha I like that idea. But I don't think it screams NZ. Unless it had NZ painted on the side. Actually it brings a up visions of Pink Floyd shows but they were pigs.

Just a quick note, just finished my last pearl jam concert. it was a very high energy show.
Highlights for me was getting mike McCready's pick during the secong encore.
Jeff and Stone swapping instruments for smile and Eddie thanking New Zealand.

Its a shame its all over, but the memories and goodtimes will last for a long time.

    I third this "huh?"

Oh yeah on a side note ive put my name down for the rocks new comp. Put Your Money Where Your mouth is. New Jet song. Jet suck but its quite a good comp. I emailed them with a specialty topic (mine is Pearl Jam of course) and they ring you and ask you questions and you earn money for each one right. Hopefully I get called and can answer what ever they throw at me.
  • Oh yeah new Datsuns album is out today. Go and buy it people support one of the best NZ bands. Better than shit like LMNOP.

sorru for not clearing things up, was running out of time on the internet.

Basically during the second encore eddie ask one of the security guys to collect all the flags near the front row so they could hang them up in there studio. He must of recieved about 20 flags, and when he got them all he said was thank you new zealand.
after the concert me and my kiwi mates were going did he say what he thought he said.

once again awesome night and awesome tour

I still reckon theres a pretty good chance that they'll come to NZ

    Honestly... im not joking...

    J
    I wouldn't count on it.
In Athens, Jake (PJ security) was in a chatty mood..being the last gig I guess..he'd seen a lot of us at the front of the queue a LOT in the last 6 weeks..
anyway, some of my friends have decided to go to Oz, so they told him he'd see them there...and I asked him what had happened to NZ (been there 10 years ago..more inclined to go back soon than to Oz)?
His reply: "The Venue wasn't finished".

not what I'd call a good excuse since I'm sure there's other venues they could have picked..but it looked pretty definite as 'it won't happen'.

    Sorry

true but they still suck, we should support betchadupa and shihad cos they rule., and there are many others too.
  • Agreed. ^

  • Hi if anyone is heading over to the Brisbane shows I'd be interested in touching base. My mate and I are both 10Cers and we managed to get good tickets for both nights.

This is my first post but full credit to the regulars for keeping fellow fans up to date with happenings, or as it turned out in the end, lack of happenings...keep it faithfull, they'll come one day and here's hoping its soon! A special visit to NZ? Why not - I doubt making money is the primary driver.

So how many other Kiwis going over the ditch for a/some show(s).

I'm catching Melbourne 1, maybe Melbourne 3, and both Adelaide shows.

I_am_a_wishlist, maybe you can update the first post to reflect the (hopefully) forthcoming list?

Hey Bazzer, definitely keen to catch up in Melbourne. I'm going to Melbourne 1, 2, and 3 with some of my mates from Welli and my girlfriend. They are going with me to 1 and 3, but nobody's keen for the second ticket I have for the second show..................................(note the extended pause).........

Starting to get excited now, been warming up listening to Athens. Saw them in '98 at the events centre, which started my fandom, and been hangin out like a crazy person to see them since then.

Been reading this post for about six months. I gotta say, you guys have done a great job woth all the info you've been able to get about them coming down here or not. Although I am super lucky that I can finally get to Australia to see them, I was sooooooo hoping the boys would come and play here at home. there's something so special about knowing they have spent afew days in the cities we live and breathe and grew up in.

Bowl of Brooklands would have been awesome. They better get down here sometime soon, at least before they are so old that they have to sit down to play.......

And finally, where did you all go? How come nobody has posted here for days and days? It's been so long that even super-disorganised me has had to get involved. Step up!
