  • Anybody see that INXS Rockstar thing? I saw thursdays one but missed Satudays one. It's not that fantastic but it beats watching New Zealand Idol and the music is better. Plus there is too much crap on TV anyway.

  • Ok so I have a form for a credit card from the bank. I'm gonna set a resonably low limit because it's gonna be purely for buying Pearl Jam stuff. I'm a poor student and I can't afford much. But Pearl Jam is a high priority. Anyone from NZ in the Ten Club? What do they send you? And how long does it usaully take? Just fill me in on all the details so when I get my membership I know what to expect.

If you're a student, probably the bank will only give you about $500 anyway, they can be a bit stingy sometimes...
Anyway, what do they send you? First up you'll receive a membership pack (usually within a month tops) that is basically just a merch order form and tenclub membership "card" (it's just a cut out from the form, I've never cut mine out, you don't need it for anything).
Then, you'll start receiving the newsletters, allegedly two per year (although last year we only got one). I guess another is due soon actually... And then around Christmas time (or Easter time for the more cynical) you get the vinyl fanclub single (usually on 7", once on 10").
That's about it. You'll occasionally get emails regarding tours or one-off shows that you won't be able to attend. But sometime later this year or next year you should get one about the tour to NZ and how to buy fanclub tickets that will put you in the first few rows... :D Here's hoping anyway...

I don't even have $500 in my savings. I was thinking more like $100.

Just cos you've got it doesn't mean you have to spend it! :) I don't know if the bank will even give a credit card for only $100! :D

Yeah probably not. But I'm only doing so I can join 10C. Worth a shot. Might order a tshirt and poster too.

I know the feeling of being a poor student. University hampers my spending abilities as well and whenever I go and get a bit of money together I blow it on trade me or the student pub =(.

  • Hey boys!
It's good to see i'm not the only kiwi with a PJ habit! It's costing me a small fortune... Anyway we should press for teh boys to do another tour! Seven years away from our shores is a little too much...

I actually thought about startign a Pear Jam tribute band just so I can hear there music preformed live here. Maybe we should get their managers details and push hard for them to come over:P

I'm in. But we would have to put up a damn good argument for a tour. 7 years is along time to wait. There's a start. Maybe on if a Latin American tour goes ahead they could come via here.

    South Africa?
You must be kidding if you think they'll only do one show. Going by their past tours, if they come here they'll do at least 3 shows. And they will all sell out and I will be at all 3! :D

I think I'd be at the Wellington and Auckland shows. I have a place to stay at both of them. But it's travel that will be a major money killer.

Where are you coming from? You can get return flights Auckland to Christchurch for $210!

Little old Feilding in the Manawatu. I don't have a car either. If they did a show in Wellington and Auckland I'd catch the bus to Welly go to the show there say with my mate at Vic catch a flight up to Auckland stay with my sister there and go to the show there. Then catch flight home. Or they other way round depending on the order of the shows.
  • I've just been reading over the Rock 1000 from earlier in the year and some of the positions Pearl Jam songs are embarrasing. Also there are heaps of songs that I'm dissapointed didn't make the list. Porch, Blood, Indiffernce, Spin The Black Circle, Off He Goes (The only track from No Code was Who You Are)
    YELLOW LEDBETTER
    and............................................................................................... DO THE EVOLUTION.
This is by far the biggest exclusion. It's one of their greatest hard rocking songs from the later years. How It did not make the cut for the Rock 1000 I do not know. But It is far greater than any of some of the shit some people voted for. At the end of the day this song needs to be heard by more people. Next year NZ Jam fans should vote in force for this song and the others I mentioned.

TELL me about it. Wow! If I won the lottery.... (of course I'd have to actually buy a ticket once in a while) That would be my dream to see Pearl Jam in Wellington.

While there is something to be said for the hometown shows, I would have to say that the show I went to in Canada in 2003 was the best show experience I'd had up to that point. And if they haven't been to New Zealand in 7 years, imagine the energy of the crowd when they finally return! Fantastic! :D

Well, Foo Fighters in Wellington sold out in a day and they've been here quite recently. I think PJ will sell out quick!

Yeah, I meant to but didn't get around to it, so I'm glad they're playing a bigger (although worse) venue in Auckland.

According to the concert chronology, there were 13,000 in attendance both nights in 95 and they were sell outs so something around there...

Because it wasnt a single? Who You Are is probably my least favourite song, god I dislike it lots. I dont like the studio version of DTE either and I dont think itd go down too well on the Rock. Rather that than Nickleback though!!
In other news , got my Foo tickets and im set although not happy with it being at the Supertop.
Its been 8 years, but I still believe...PJ in NZ 06!
