  • the main consequence of letting Iran take over parts of Iraq is that it increases real or imagined threats to Isreal, and limits western access to oil....that's all I can see....and I don't personally feel that justifies any more bloodshed.

not without consequence...but what is the consequence of the alternative?

    hypothetical, I know :)

there would be much more consequence with going to war with Iran, no question. but allowing them to do as they please should not be the answer either.

im not sure what should happen.

I wish all the shit would end so I can go visit. Iran/Iraq area is where civilization began. so many places to see. maybe one day

*It was actually a Polk and it was won after Billy Boy left. But still O'Rielly doesn't let facts get in the way so why should I???

When you tune into O'reilly, all he does is urinate his opinion all over the place.

    Like Hannity, it's 99% agenda.

    awesome post dude.

hannity, beck, ingraham, et al. SAY that they are giving you their opinion. i don't see the problem....if someone is telling you they are giving you their opinion...it is what it is.

i'll agree with you to an extent on o'riley b/c he tries to be "above it all" which is obviously BS....

but i don't see anything wrong with guys like hannity saying here's my opinion, and it's why i believe it.

Hannity and the format of that show is an "opinion" agenda leaning to the "right." It really isn't about the human individual, or common sense.

O'reilly and Hannity are so predictable, it's to the point now that I know what they are going to say, or what angle they are going to take, well before they say it.

Most of the time when they speak with their guests, they don't listen to anything but the sound of their own voice.

It's a bit irresponsible as some people are impressionable, and put a lot of faith in what they say as unbiased and fair.

hannity tells you he's a conservative...i'll agree that O'Reilly is misleading...he pretends to be a centrist....

and it's true that you can tell what hannity will say...but you can also predict what keith olbermann will say...and i have no problem with any of that...

my problem is with "journalists" who pretend to be unbiased...i just don't think that's possible.

That could be a good subject for another post.

McNeil/Lehrer back in the day on PBS were probably as close to mainstream newsworthy unbiased reporting as the good 'ol USA has ever had. 'Course, not too many people tuned in.

Good call. I was a loyal watcher of the show for years and years.

Hi Purple Hawk. I think, if Bill had let Paul, he would have more than made his point. One really can't debate this issue without a history lesson. These people just didn't wake up one day and decide to hate us for our freedom. It is a hard pill to shallow, but our past has come back to bite us and the current administration's actions have only made our position in the middle east worse. As for just walking out now after our fumble? Not sure is it is as easy as Paul says, we have really made a mess of things, but what he says about our past involvement fueling this fire is undeniable.

O'reilly runs a tv program, has guests on, has certain questions he wants to ask, and only a very limited time to do so. When the people dont answer his questions he will continue to push and then move on. From what i saw in that interview, Paul had more time to respond to the questions then most guests on orielly's program. So im not sure that argument is valid.

Perhaps the timing thing is a bit of a problem then.

Ever think this show might be just too "busy" to hold a decent conversation?

How exactly do the other shows on TV manage it?

o'reilly is not a listener. never has been, never will be. he runs a media enterprise, that's the niche he's found for himself in the culpable american media market.

i dunno - he only has the highest ratings for a show of his genre for a reason. Maybe you should contact producers if you think they are overbooked - i personally think a 6 minute segment to answer maybe 4 real questions (which paul answered none of) is more then enough time.

Apparently not if Bill has to cut him off all the time.
