    all i know is that $44 seems like an awful lot to fill the tank of my ford focus!!! DOH!!

    Mine is about 70 or more to fill up with super. I have an 89 porsche 944. its a 4 cyl and yet gets an average of 17 miles per gallon. Its terrible.

    I wish. It wasn't a problem when I worked in NYC and took the PATH to work. Now though I work in NJ and there really is no form of public transportation that can get me to work so I have to drive.

    No kidding. I live in North Dakota. The only town that probably has a halfway decent bus system is probably Fargo but I do not live there.

    NJ has a half way decent bus system but it's only in major urban areas. I don't work in a major urban area and for me to take a bus to work would take hours with all the different connections and transfers I would have to make.

    I have heard they are talking about $300 a barrel within the next few years. That would put it to about 6 or 7 dollars per gallon!!!!

    That is what happens when you start bombing the countries that are producing the oil we use!

    same here, i remember filling mine up a few years back for $17...

    Back in 1997 I had a VW Jetta. I could fill the tank for just $11. Then in 2000 I had a Nissan Pathfinder and it cost me about $40 to fill the tank. Damn I miss those days.

    That's all great but what about the people who have no choice but to drive. Public transportation, walking and/or cycling doesn't work for everyone. I personally can't use any of those alternatives to get to work. Since starting this job in NJ my transportion cost went from $35 a week to about $85. I am making more money than I was before but the cost keeps climbing and my salary does not.

    Yeah, I wasn't saying this was a solution for everyone but for some, definitely and for a way to cut back, as well.

    I try to use my truck as little as possible. Unfortunetly when I have my boys I need to use it so we can all fit in one car, counting my girlfriend and her daughter there is 6 of us. My girlfriend drives the same amount of miles as I do to get to work so using her smaller more effecient car is useless because then she would have to use my SUV.

    When I read this, I thought of Laura aka hippiemom. :)

    She called me stupid for having a SUV a couple of years ago.

    She was right. :p

    Good thing I stay home for school and internship - otherwise I'd be screwed.

    But gas price is another reason why I don't go out anymore, unless I have to.

    It's hurting our budget, yeah.

    Gas went up because we shot at Iranian Sea-Doos. Those traders on the floor at the stock exchange are pussies.

    I'm glad I don't have a car. I don't really need one right now, work is a 5 min. walk, and my boyfriend has a car.
    I think people should carpool more. But I guess the problem is that people have different schedules and sometimes need to run errands, pick up kids, etc. after work. But it's something to consider to reduce gas costs.
