With the flurry of recent government bailouts, we decided to try to put them in perspective. The circles below represent the size of U.S. government bailout, calculated in 2008 dollars. They are also in chronological order. Our chart focuses on U.S. government bailouts of U.S. corporations (and one city). We have not included instances where the U.S. government aided other nations.

Check out how the Treasury did in the end after initial government outlays.

The History of US Government Bailouts and is it too farfetched to think if troubled times continue this industry is next?

One good thing we the tax payers will own or may own a part of those teams. :) Or maybe NOT considering how lousy some of these teams are. :(

The sports industries in the US already rob citizens by allowing the taxpayers to pay for stadiums. The entire tv market and deals they sign with cable companies under the supervision of the fcc is also a sham.
    CONservative governMENt

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

Correct. I hate the Patriots but I'll give their owner, Robert Kraft, credit for using his own coin to pay for Gillette Stadium.

I met RK in Palm Beach FL one of my boss's good friends. Yes I prefer owners who put up their own money to fund stadiums instead of raping cities to fund them.
