I've been to Starbucks maybe once or twice in my life.

Honestly...who pays this kind of money for water, a dash of milk, a teaspoon or two of sugar and few dozen coffee beans?

Is it me, or is this one of the biggest cons going?

A lot of people love Starbucks. I don't drink anything remotely flavored like coffee so I don't have to worry about it. I don't get it either.

I love a good latte or mocha ... notice I said a GOOD one, so I don't go to Starbucks. I do go to the local coffee shop once in a while, where a large soy latte is around $4. I got an espresso machine for Christmas a couple of years ago and it's one of the best presents I ever got. Even though it cost around $250, I figure between me and my daughter it's probably paid for itself already.

I don't drink anything more complicatedthan black coffee but Starbucks has a great market. They tap into the growing divide between the rich and poor and market to the middle class. They may not be able to have the luxuries the rich have but a $5 Mocha is a mini and affordable luxury. From a business perspective it was a pretty sweet move they made and market they tapped.

  • One of the local coffee shops in Greenville, Coffee Underground, is the best! http://dryridge.org/acousticseen/eventsthismonth.htm We took Kenny Olav and Becca when they came down from Boston..it was also my first time going there. Now I go every chance I get. They have live music, poetry readings, comfy couchs and the best tiramisu I've ever eaten...oh and their coffee is quite good, as well. :) I just couldn't bring myself to go in a Starbucks ever again...no matter how desperate.

Do they have Starbucks inside the Targets anywhere else? It's like a new trend down here.

    Ugh.

Give me a 1 euro coffee at the café counter any day.

What do people think is more shocking:

    $5 Latte'
    or
    $15 martini

    ??

    Best Starbucks drink:
Go to Costco and buy one of those 12 packs of Starbucks Frappiccinos.
Pour one of those bottles in a blender.
2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.
Whip til it's the consistancy of a milk shake.
    Add a shot of Kualua.
    Pour into a glass.
top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup.
    ...
Fuckin' aye, Jack... that gooooood shit.
    ...
and you get to make 11 more after that!!!

I'd pay $5 for a coffee, but a proper one.

I bought a Starbucks coffee once a very long time ago, just to try and they won't be getting anymore money out of me.

I like Starbucks. I usually get the Americano though and that's around $2.00. Why do I like Starbucks compared to some other places? Because wherever you go, its always made right and tastes the same. This is not true of Dunkin' Donuts in my experience.
