Ok. Whatever. Appeaser.
Ahmadinejad has said that Israel should be blown off the map and that the Holocaust never existed. He stated gays did not exist in Iran and he is pursuing a nuclear bomb.
Yeah that guy isn't a threat.

First of all, context is important. Here's the full quote:
“Iran, Cuba, Venezuela — these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don’t pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us. And yet we were willing to talk to the Soviet Union at the time when they were saying we’re going to wipe you off the planet,” Obama told voters in Pendleton, Ore.
“You know, Iran, they spend one-one hundredth of what we spend on the military. If Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn’t stand a chance. And we should use that position of strength that we have to be bold enough to go ahead and listen,” he said
Secondly, go read this and tell me that the Bush administration hasn't been beating the war drum on Iran for years to make folks like yourself believe the threat is 'serious' and 'imminent.'

US confession: Weapons were not made in Iran after all
CASMII Press Release
In a sharp reversal of its longstanding accusations against Iran arming militants in Iraq, the US military has made an unprecedented albeit quiet confession: the weapons they had recently found in Iraq were not made in Iran at all.
According to a report by the LA Times correspondent Tina Susman in Baghdad:
“A plan to show some alleged Iranian-supplied explosives to journalists last week in Karbala and then destroy them was canceled after the United States realized none of them was from Iran. A U.S. military spokesman attributed the confusion to a misunderstanding that emerged after an Iraqi Army general in Karbala erroneously reported the items were of Iranian origin. When U.S. explosives experts went to investigate, they discovered they were not Iranian after all.”
The US, which until two weeks ago had never provided any proof for its allegations, finally handed over its “evidence” of the Iranian origin of these weapons to the Iraqi government. Last week, an Iraqi delegation to Iran presented the US “evidence” to Iranian officials. According to Al-Abadi, a parliament member from the ruling United Iraqi Alliance who was on the delegation, the Iranian officials totally refuted “training, financing and arming” militant groups in Iraq. Consequently the Iraqi government announced that there is no hard evidence against Iran.
In another extraordinary event this week, the US spokesman in Iraq, Maj. Gen. Kevin Bergner, for the first time did not blame Iran for the violence in Iraq and in fact did not make any reference to Iran at all in his introductory remarks to the world media on Wednesday when he described the large arsenal of weapons found by Iraqi forces in Karbala.
In contrast, the Pentagon in August 2007 admitted that it had lost track of a third of the weapons distributed to the Iraqi security forces in 2004/2005. The 190,000 assault rifles and pistols roam free in Iraqi streets today.
In the past year, the US leaders have been relentless in propagating their charges of Iranian meddling and fomenting violence in Iraq and since the release of the key judgments of the US National Intelligence Estimate in December that Iran does not have a nuclear weaponisation programme, these accusations have sharply intensified.
The US charges of Iranian interference in Iraq too have now collapsed. Any threat of military strike against Iran is in violation of the UN charter and the IAEA’s continued supervision on Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities means there is no justification for sanctions.
CASMII calls on the US to change course and enter into comprehensive and unconditional negotiations with Iran.

It all depends on the political climate as to what will pop out of his mouth on any given day. I've posted plenty of hawkish-type sound bytes from Obama concerning Iran. Electioneering, plain and simple. Who knows what he actually thinks on the matter. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

it sure as fuck is.
The quote "wipe off the map" is ABSOLUTELY a western media smear.
1. he was quoting another islamic leader.
2. THAT leader said, the opressive Israeli REGIME must FADE from the pages of history.
It was a reference to BAD GOVERNMENT!
The comments about the holocaust were NOT holocaust denier comments.
He was doing a few things:
1. questioning whether such an event gives a a persecuted people the right to do the same to another people (palestinians) without anyone questioning them.
2. questioning whether it is fair to ignore all the OTHER people who died in the holocaust: blacks, gypsies, handicapped\disabled, mentally impaired etc. soley to exhault the jews as the lone persecuted people of this earth.
3. he was questioning some of the motive behind the holocaust, and particularly accusations of highlevel zionist involvement in the funding and organizing of the reich itself.
A lot of what he had to say on the subject was valid, frankly.
Certainly the man and many like him have some serious ideological disagreements with the Israeli power structure, but the comments you've recited about him are patently false.

Something else that this administration and the media never point out is that the majority of foreign fighters in Iraq are Saudies and that a good portion of funds provided to the Sunni insurgents comes from, or through, Saudi Arabia. The media fails to pint out that Saudi Arabia has a small, and severely oppressed Shi'ite minority and the royal family will do what it takes to make sure that another Shi'ite run counry does not develop in their backyard."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

The thing I always find a bit confusing... How Americans so easily dis-believe things Americans say... yet... consider the words of a guy like that nutcase in Iran as the gospel truth.

I'm always confused at how it's mostly the Americans who grandstand about military might and being the last standing superpower that get all riled up about labelling other leaders "threats". Politicians flip-flop and appease to match the trends of their voters - if Obama doesn't consider Ahmadinejad a threat, it's because he's basically been told not to.Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0 -

My thoughts, too.
Why is Iran considered a threat to us? And if you notice... Israel is ALWAYS brought up in the debate. Well, guess what? Isreal isn't a pussy. They are some tough bastards over there... their fighter pilots are arguebly the best combat fighter pilots in the world today. And they have nukes... and delivery systems (tested delivery systems)... early warning launch detection and sophisticated airborne warning systems. In other words... Israel is capable of taking care of themselves. How does a little puke like that Ahcemennigitissdad threaten a nation... that can nuke his punk ass? And why do so many Americans place so much credibility with that little shithead?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

First of all, do you really think a faux "news" link is bolstering your case?
second, I heard a quote from Obama saying Iran is a threat if they should get the bomb.
which they don't, you know.0 -

Yeah we should start another war with this country over words. They have no nuclear weapons and USSR did at one time and we didn't start a war with them back in the 60's. So why become another bully in another country just to control this region?

The whole wipe Israel off the map was not translated correctly, I believe.
I don't give a damn what he thinks about the holocaust, I don't see how his beliefs on the holocaust make Iran a threat. Plenty of American politicians would love to live in a world where there are no homosexuals, furthermore, how can anyone see that statement as a reason to consider Iran a threat? Are you telling me the US is suddenly concerned with the rights of homosexuals in Iran? And he's pursuing a nuclear bomb, according to intelligence he's not, but I believe plenty of countries have nuclear weapons. Are they all a threat too?
Either way, I agree Iran is not a serious threat, I just wonder how long Obama will agree with that.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

I'll have to hand it to Obama, talk like this is pretty accurate, and will probably get him elected.

The whole "appeaser" thing is a joke. And it would be outright hilarious if there weren't so many people gullible enough to believe it and repeat it over and over and over again. My whole life
