Oh wow! The early days! You should catch a show if they come through your area...the songs off Lateralus were amazing to see live! I saw APC in Charlotte May 2004 Cricket Arena...medium size venue. The sound sucked there and it wasn't even close to being on the same level as tonight's show...but I've always prefered Tool to APC.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

I missed my opportunity here too ;(. I love both APC and Tool! The venue I saw APC in was a small club. The acoustics were not too good, but it was so cool to see them in such a intimate setting. I would love to have heard the Lateralus songs. The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance,
but the illusion of knowledge.

The tool thing too...Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

L.A.'s fine, the sun shines most the time
And the feeling is 'laid back'
Palm trees grow, and rents are low
But you know I keep thinkin' about
Making my way back
Well, I'm New York City born and raised
But nowadays, I'm lost between two shores
L.A.'s fine, but it ain't home
New York's home, but it ain't mine no more
"I am," I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
"I am," I cried
"I am," said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
Leavin' me lonely still
Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of bein' a king
And then became one
Well except for the names and a few other changes
If you talk about me, the story's the same one
But I've got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried, but it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared for the sound of being alone
"I am," I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
"I am," I cried
"I am," said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
Leavin' me lonely stillI really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.0 -
i don't mind stealing bread
from the mouths of decadence
but i can't feed on the powerless
when my cup's already overfilled
but it's on the table
the fire's cooking
and they're farming babies
while the slaves are all working
the blood is on the table
and their mouths are choking
but i'm growing hungry
i don't mind stealing bread
from the mouths of decadence
but i can't feed on the powerless
when my cup's already overfilled
but it's on the table
the fire's cooking
and they're farming babies
while the slaves are all working
and it's on the table
the mouths are choking
but i'm growing hungry
i'm going hungry...
i don't mind stealing bread
no, i don't mind stealing bread
i'm going hungry...
i'm going hungry...Driving in my car, smoking a cigar. The only time I'm happy is when I play my guitar.

I missed that APC show here. I saw Tool here in Charlotte shortly after Lateralus came out....they played at the Ampitheatre here. Not the same as an indoor show but damn it was still freakin great.Driving in my car, smoking a cigar. The only time I'm happy is when I play my guitar.

Cranberries - Zombie
Another head hangs lowly,
Child is slowly taken.
And the violence caused such silence,
Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...
In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, dou, dou, dou, dou, dou...
Another mother's breakin',
Heart is taking over.
When the vi'lence causes silence,
We must be mistaken.
It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen.
In your head, in your head they're still fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are dying...
In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, hey, oh, ya, ya-a...If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

The Flaming Lips ~ The Sound Of Failure / It's Dark... Is It Always This Dark??
She's starting to live her life
From the inside out
The sound of failure calls her name
She's decided to hear it out
So go tell Britney and go tell Gwen
She's not tryin' to go against all them
'Cause she's too scared and she can't pretend
To understand where it begins or ends
Or what it means to be dead
It's just a sound going through your head
Let them go on
Standing there in the graveyard
While the moon sprays its fireworks in your hair
The sound of failure calls her name
She's decided to hear it out
So go tell Britney and go tell Gwen
She's not tryin' to go against all them
'Cause she's too scared and she can't pretend
To understand where it begins or ends
Or what it means to be dead
It's just a sound going through your head
Let them go on
Where it begins or ends
Or what it's like to be dead
It's just a sound going through your head
Let it go onstandin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way0 -
Gimme Some Truth - John Lennon
Im sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
Ive had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope
No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
Money for dope
Money for rope
Im sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mamas little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth now
Ive had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth
No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
Its money for dope
Money for rope
Ah, Im sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now
Ive had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth now

(from the Trust dvd which is amazing)
cradling the softest, warmest part of you in my hand
feels like a little baby bird fallen from the nest
i think that your body is something i understand
i think that i'm happy, i think that i'm blessed
i've got a lack of inhibition
i've got a loss of perspective
i've had a little bit to drink
and it's making me think
that i can jump ship and swim
that the ocean will hold me
that there's got to be more
than this boat i'm in
'cuz they can call me crazy if i fail
all the chance that i need
is one-in-a-million
and they can call me brilliant
if i succeed
gravity is nothing to me, moving at the speed of sound
i'm just going to get my feet wet
until i drown
and i teeter between tired
and really, really tired
im wiped and im wired but i guess its just as well
because i built my own empire
out of car tires and chicken wire
and i'm queen of my own compost heap
and i'm getting used to the smell
and i've got a lack of information
but i got a little revelation
and i'm climbing up on the railing
trying not to look down
i'm going to do my best swan dive
into shark-infested waters
i'm gonna pull out my tampon
and start splashing around
'cuz i don't care if they eat me alive
i've got better things to do than survive
i've got a memory of your warm skin in my hand
and i've got a vision of blue sky and dry land
i'm cradling the hardest, heaviest part of me in my hand
the ship is pitching and heaving, my limbs are bobbing and weaving
and i think this is something i understand
i just need a couple vaccinations for my far-away vacation
i'm going to go ahead and go boldly because a little bird told me
that jumping is easy, that falling is fun
up until you hit the sidewalk, shivering and stunned
and they can call me crazy if i fail
all the chance that i need
is one-in-a-million
and they can call me brilliant
if i succeed
gravity is nothing to me
moving at the speed of sound
i'm just gonna get my feet wet
until i drown...If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

my2hands wrote:i have ti be honest. i dont know much about the flaming lips, but i see you guys post them alot. i think i am going to have to check them out. any suggestions? perhaps you could point me towards the creme' de la creme' of their stuff?
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Period.
But their newest...At War with the Mystics ...has some socio/politicial elements to it and it is amazing as well. Soft Bulletin is also fantastic...some really authentic flaming lips classics on it. Hope that helps.
Here one from their new album. I'll think you'll dig it.

The W.A.N.D. (The Will Always Negates Defeat)
You've got the power in there
Waving your wand in the air
Time after time those fanatical minds try to rule all the world
Telling us all it's them who's in charge of it all
I've got a tricked out magic stick that will make them all fall
We've got the power now, motherfuckers; that's where it belongs
You've got that right
(Power in there)
You know that it's...
(Wand in the air)
They've got their weapons to solve all their questions, they don't know what it's for
(Cause they don't know what it's for)
Why can't they see it's not power, just greed, to just want more and more?
(Just want more and more)
I got a plan and it's here in my hand but it's all made of rights
We're the enforcers, the sorcerer's orphans, and we know why we fight
(And we know why we fight)
You've got that right
(You've got the power in there)
(Waving your wand in the air)
(You've got the power in there)
(You've got the power in there)
(You've got the power in there)
(Waving your wand in the air)
You've got that right
You know that it's...If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Isn't it funny how you never really screamed at my face,
but your anger so unspoken and unchannelled
permeates my essence to the point where I,
Don't want to see you hear you, be anywhere near you,
you probably think I'm threatened by you
but your illusionary power doesn't threaten me,
Actually I think it's kind of funny that you create an illusion that is a mirror,
I don't appreciate you and I know that that surprises you
I suppose you see that those who follow their heart always win,
those with integrity have won the match before it's begun
So rather than being kicked around, I'm going to kick you to the curb
So rather than being pushed around, I'm going to push you away first
So rather than trying to protect you, I'm going to cover my bases first
So rather than trying to open my heart, I'm going to lock it with a key
So that only the special ones, can ever get through to me
Some can see beyond the barrier of threshold whereas others can't see beyond their sculptured mould,
you could offer me nothing, you could offer me nothing that I need
Do you think I'm asking too much?
A kind of respect and trust that shouldn't even be questioned,
how can I open my heart with dishonesty sitting next to me?
I've honoured your honour to the point of embarrassment,
but innocence in the hands of the guilt-free is kicked to, is kicked to the curb
I was ashamed of my innocence,
I was ashamed of my innocence but now with clarity I see that your bullshit is just not worthy of me
So rather than being kicked around, I'm going to kick you to the curb
So rather than being pushed around, I'm going to push you away first
So rather than trying to protect you, I'm going to cover my bases first
So rather than trying to open my heart, I'm going to lock it with a key
So that only the special ones, can ever get through to me
I don't want to be angry.
I don't want to be angry.
I don't want to be angry.
I don't want to be angry, angry, angry.
This is not worthy of me
and now with clarity I see
that I can walk away,
I can walk away
So rather than being kicked around, I'm going to kick you to the curb
So rather than being pushed around, I'm going to push you away first
So rather than trying to protect you, I'm going to cover my bases first
So rather than trying to open my heart, I'm going to lock it with a key
So that only the special ones, so that only the special ones, can ever get through to me.
