Cause they are holding down the white man!!

Poor Imus, it is so hard to be a white man in todays America. I'm going to be crying for him all week.

LOL, that's the lamest and most pathetic response to this issue. It completely tip-toes around or ignores the real issue at hand. Your goofy response is one which advocates, supports and defends stereotypical racist/discriminatory double-standards and enables the vicious cycle to continue; till it comes around full circle. It amazes me how so many people, who are intelligent in so many aspects; yet completely lack the foresight and awareness of historical evidence to comprehend where this approach is leading us. Cause and effect. Push and Pull. Action/ Reaction.

    It's a shame.

Christians don't need evidence... they just know.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

I don't understand your comment. had imus said jigaboos i find that word offensive and not comical at all.. however nappy and ho have comical undertones and are frequently used in black comedy. imus may not be labeled a comedian per say but his show does have a sprinkling of comedy mixed in. and your average black man with a sense of humor that hears this nappy headed himself by the way... old white man say it on the air..somewhere someplace there was a black guy with a sense of humor listening and chuckling when that comment was made.

    From Fox News:

NEW YORK — Syndicated talk-radio personality Don Imus apologized Friday for calling members of the Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos" during a segment yesterday in his "Imus in the Morning" show.

Imus and his producer and on-air sidekick, Bernard McGuirk, went on to further attack the black members of the team, calling them "jigaboos and wannabees."

In his apology, Imus called his comments "insensitive and ill-conceived."

"It was completely inappropriate, and we can understand why people were offended," he told listeners at the opening of his broadcast Friday morning.

He further called the comments "thoughtless and stupid" and said, "We're sorry."

The apology came after Imus initially brushed aside criticism, telling The New York Times "not to worry about some idiot saying something meant to be amusing."

Rutgers officials issued this statement: "We agree with Mr. Imus that this was, in his own words, an 'idiot comment.' We are very proud of the success of the Rutgers women's basketball team. Coach Stringer and the Rutgers players are outstanding ambassadors for this great institution."

    ----

Now, a black comedian might use the terms "nappy" and "hos" to some comedic effect... I guess... but I can't imagine the exact dialogue that Imus and his producer used would ever be used by black comedians... and there was nothing funny about it. It wasn't even a botched joke. It was just ignorant and insensitive stupidity.

I was just pushing what you have been posting further. It was obviously sarcasm. I don't really understand why it has to be a black vs white thing at all.

I am white, yet am not very upset that an old white guy got fired for making an unprovoked hurtfull verbal attack on a womans basketball team. I don't feel the need to find black guys who have said stupid things to show that the 'other side' is just as bad.

I don't think of black and white as political parties I guess. I find no reason to stick up for Imus, even though he has the same skin tone that I do.
