There is really no one that 'scares' me, otherwise I wouldn't waste my time, but there are certainly posters here that I enjoy debating with when they bring challenging views to the table. However, I must stress, challenging views backed with reason and logic, etc. I admit I like sparring with farfromglorified and ahminus.

I'm not scared of anyone. The free will debates remind me of nothing more advanced than an A-level philosophy class, and they bore the shit out of me.

Yeah....I realized that several hours ago now. Sorry for not being perfect, and forcing you have to roll your eyes...

honestly, no one really scares me. but i have so little free time anymore that by the time i read a thread....my 2 cents has been written by someone else so it's pointless for me to say a word. tho, cate used to cyber intimidate me a lil with her persona...but i've come to find out she's just very outspoken and pulls no punches...and that's refreshing. but she also lives down under...so if i piss her off...chances are i'll live thru it. lol

I don't mean to shit on this place or anything because I have enjoyed some of the discourse here, the problem I have is that any discussion here automatically becomes a close minded winner/loser debate instead of an open minded thought and idea exchange. They are not discussions most of the time but debates aimed at winning rather than listening and learning. There have been some good threads that have not degenerated into this but I find that is the usual pattern.

I'll second that! I always look at the forum description and wonder what the hell I'm not understanding!

A Moving Train Politics, current events - reasoned debate and discussion - we can all learn something new.

I can't see any reason for things to degenerate into the mud slinging or mental masturbation that they do, particularly given I would just like to discuss stuff and ask questions and maybe even learn something new for a change and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. So I post in a thread or start a thread and I sit here watching the same old same old go on. :( Fisty cuffs at 50 paces!! The issue or topic at hand gets completely lost. Or some people decide today is the day they're gonna post their hatred of another all dressed up with wordiness and bullshit! Should be taken to pm. Or out the back behind the sheltershed, lunch time be there! It annoys and disappoints me in a thread with a subject that interests me and I wonder how many other people are sitting at their place reading the crap and wanting to discuss the subject and ask questions but they don't bother because they don't want the grief of interrupting the bar room brawl.

I've often contemplated that a seperate forum might be a good idea for those who want to hone their debate skills and get into mutual mental masturbation, where they can generally spread their vileness and post to their hearts content. Sorta like a Special Ed class for those that don't play well with others. ;)
And somewhere that those that would just like to learn and discuss can go.
Sorta like a TRAIN STEROIDS and a TRAIN LITE if you will?

So Train Steroids ~ knock yourself out, kill each other, assert your mental superiority, waffle on endlessly ad infinitum, have your own little game of I'm smarter than you.

And Train Lite ~ see or start a thread about a topic that interests you, where you can discuss the issue in a pleasant, non threatening, non abusive environment, where you can know that it is NOT ALLOWED for people to call you names, or be sarcastic or mean. You can ask questions, learn new stuff and who knows, maybe even a solution might present itself or some positive action might be taken?

Yeah so get your Whack a Mole mallets out folks and come pound my head for popping up! :p I can't wait to hear all the reasons why that wouldn't work or how I'm being elitist or mean or not in touch with my fenimine side or some other evil personal trait that's offensive.
    NOPE!!!

    *~You're IT Bert!~*

    Hold on to the thread
    The currents will shift

so... i'm reading this book on emo called nothing feels good, trying to wade through the copious notes on dashboard confessional. and who should make an appearance on page 264 but triumph the insult comic dog. it mentions eminem pummelling him at the MTV awards and i have a total flashback. yes i am now vaguely aware of him. but still, i don't want to marry him(or you for that matter dnb. :p) hypothetically or any other way. :D
