whats the general public opinion about the situation in lebanon in your country?

In Ireland we have always been against Israels agressive and expansionist foreign policy. We have palestinian solidarity groups and noone buys basil coz it comes only from Israel for some reason. I didnt know there were places out there where people agreed with Israel or think they are justified in their actions

    Canada is quite split on the issue, according to recent polls. Over 60% of Canadians believe that Israel is "somewhat" or "completely" justified in its actions. Don't ask me what the distinction is, I'm not sure.

    It varies by what the polls say...if they say is Israel right to defend herself the majority most likely support that....if the poll is to state that Israel is using the correct amount of force there would a majority saying no...so it all lies in the context of the poll question itself....

    Hehe, according to polls, 64% of Quebec don't think it is measure or justify and according to people around me, 100% don't think it is measure or justify.

    As i said to i don't know who in another thread, Ireland and Québec are pretty close in their ideology and history...

    I'm from Canada aswell and the above two people are the only others I know that have an informed opinion.

    I've talked to a bunch of Lebonese Canadians that think Israel is way out of hand, at the same time they blame Hizbullah for a lot.

    Most uninformed Canadians say something like "Damn arabs and their Allah, see, you can't trust 'em?" they are usually christians that don't realize that Allah is their god too, Mohammed was just the prophet of the arab world, but Islam is still the same thing basically, except Mohammed is the centre of attention and not Christ.

    What about Americans do they think its justified coz their government does?
    how are Ireland and Quebec alike? Im not saying they arent im just asking coz im not aware of your history- i thought ye were happy to remain in the common wealth

    Well on this board americans seem to be split but i don't know, americans living in the USA could probably tell you more about it.

    About Ireland and Québec, that was exactly my grief, someone should put these similarity in a book or an article, cause they're everywhere, from being conquered by England, to language/culture concern, to opposition to the Boer wars, to independance movement, to support of Palestine, to catholic religion, anyway a lot more than that.

    Commonwealth is a joke to me, the queen is a joke to me, Quebec is moslty a member of the Francophonie (french commonwealth) and are part of the Commonwealth cause they're part of Canada (and Canada are part of Francophonie cause of Quebec),

    Many Irish immigrate in Quebec in the beginning of Canada/Quebec, Montreal is host to one of the oldest "out of Ireland" St-Patrick's parade, anyway i'd need to put all this together...
