I've always greatly appreciated a woman who just wants to get right to it... :D
Of course, that's only with the left-handed intuitive types. ;) It's all that insightful external exploration of possibilities and resourcefulness "they" are so known for. ;):D

Yes left handed intuitiveness can be absolutely incredible...so I'm told again and again.

....I have the marks to prove it :D:D

And I have nothing else because all teh wwealth in my country is owned by a few individuals who squander it obscenely. My ancestorrs have all been as poor as me, and I have no hope of improving my situation in life because my society structure prohibits it.
My leaders care littel for their people, I have no mechanism for changing my country becasue it is governed by a hereditar autocracy. You are either born to wealth or not. FUrther, there are numerous politiical groups who capitalise on my grief and lack of opportunity and are willing to sacrifice my life to further their political cause.
I am unable to express my anger about this in my society, because there is no freedom of speech, and any atempt to criticse my government is criminal behaviour , and punished as such.
So, I direct my hate against teh "haves" in teh West, because I have not. Tihs is allowed, encouraged, in fact. I may well kill more of my own countrymen with my suicide bomb or through the inevitable retaliation, and create further hatered and resentment but that is OK, cos Allah said , so there !!

It's a popular myth that Charles Manson 'brainwashed' his 'followers'.

I'm actually quite familiar with the Manson case, and with brainwashing.

Islam is a pretty extreme philosophy...
 In itself, it is not an extreme philosophy - at least no more than catholicism. In all religions there are fundementalists... this is the side of Islam that is shown to us - day in, day out. The suicide bombers, the women covered from head to toe, being arrested if a bit of hair is shown, etc. The media will never show the true and peaceful side of islam.. the majority of people of this faith. If you want to look at other 'extremes', look no further than the christian religions as they were, and still are in certain countries, and what christians have also done in the name of religion.

    Let's not generalise any faith...

I agree. And Oprah, as the war was brewing, deliberately featured Iraqi people, for example, and the lifestyle of women there, from their perspective, in order to get us to be more realistic about our perceptions of what we do not understand. When we look at others through our own perspective, yes, it's easy to feel sorry for them, and expect or demand change. However, it's not that simple.

I think purely from a human emotion perspective we are all a lot more alike (identical) than many are willing to believe... Exactly the same actually.

To think otherwise is insanely racist...

Maybe so just from the view that we are the same species of animal, but that is as far as it goes....

Although they are a minority, let's just say one percent of the faith, many Muslims follow a Sharia code that calls for homosexuals to killed or women who are deamed "unchaste" to be stoned to death. I can pull some videos up on YouTube if you need me to.

Anyways, they are not even fucking close to being the same as me. It's niave for you to think that somebody that screams Allah Akbar as somebodies head gets chopped of in a public square...

Trade "muslim" with "Christian extremist" and the story is the same. I guess it is more humane to inject poison into someone's veins to put them to death?? Texas is more like the Middle East than I thought.....

While his post was valid, it was only part of it. Your original post is also valid and a very crucial part of it.

We all know they aren't all sitting around focussing their hatred and terrorism on Australia, also a free country and a bunch of practising "heathens", too. There is a clear-cut reason the United States is a focus.

Well, I was going to ask you which part was so incorrect as to make it stupid.
I believe the obscene polarization of wealth, and the lack of civil rights and the oppression of women not just physically and emotionally, but also of the balancing "yin", and the general poverty in the Arab countries has a MASSIVE role to play in the ongoing violence etc.
I do believe retaliation from both sides is abhorrent.

Your initial post was quite a JUSTIFICATION in itself. I was trying to look at understanding, rather than justification.
Without understanding, there will be no progress.

I think we all understand that suicide bombers are responsible for what they do, based on being themselves, with their history, culture and circumstances, being factors in their destructive and uncalled for choices and the resulting responsibility.

I believe what threads like this are about is reminding the other side (Americans) of THEIR actions and what kinds of effects they have. Especially considering that poor behaviour is being justified by America a lot. I believe Specifics was fair in portraying this point.

The problem with your scenario is that you won't be able to kill the person who launched the missile or ordered the missile to be launched. You are only left with the ability to seek revenge on anyone You think comes close to those responsible regardless, of who else gets hurt or killed. The hate that consumes a person with no reason left to live creates a person willing to die for revenge. One act of revenge, turns into another act of retaliation and so on and so on, til how it began is lost in the fact that there's no end. The enemy has now become neighbor against neighbor as you and your once fellow citizens lay death at each others door steps because vengeful hate kills anyone in its path.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

Whereas I believe that the problems begin at home, and that the gross social injustices there are visiting us here.

I also believe that the lack of "yin" in their social consciousness is trying hard to visit us here too.

Anyone remember that swore to sweep Israel into the sea when it was declared independent and prompltly tried their ineffective best to do just that. I do believe that much of teh present conflict still dates from that. Enilisting sympathy in those circumstances is a bit rich.

Sure, a bunch of wealthy Jews in the US lobbied hard to make the US help Israel.
