Well, maybe you should write us all a nice little post on your sexual preferences and explain to us why this might be relevant in the case of Palestinian Crisis.

    I'm straight, thanks for asking.

I wasn't asking. I was suggesting a dissertation on your sexual preferences and how that relates to peace in the middle east.

Folks, don't be so sure that anything that Ahmadinejad said or says has anything to do with what anyone in the US thinks (including the gay statement that's being beaten to death).

In spite of what we made of thought of his statements...in the eyes of his countrymen, he got up there on that stage and made the US look like a bunch of godless, debased, rude, meddling assholes. He stood in a room alone in a gathering of the enemy, 1 on 700, and stood unwavering as the original post said, and those folks in Iran saw that on their television sets as the whole world turns against them in opinion, further solidifying them.

I do not buy for one second that this man is an idiot.

That isn't much of a "dissertation".

I give my opinion on the speech, and it's instantly attacked.

I really think jlew needs to be banned from this forum. His shit has gotten real old. I've tried to reason with him on numerous occassions, and he apparently just doesn't care to do anything but disrupt any reasonable debate.

I can appreciate a sense of humor as much as the next guy, but he just isn't funny anymore.

for all the defenders of this guy, please explain how you can give him any credit for being such a genius when he says there are no gays in Iran?

I very much enjoyed debating with you about the collapse of WTC. I respect your opinion on certain things. lighten up

Not sure if that was directed at me, but in case it was, I was not defending the guy. I only said, don't be so sure that stuff he said (including the gay thing) was intended for your consumption as an American, as I believe it was all intended for consumption back in Iran, to rally his people, to make the US look like all those things I mentioned.

I think that line in itself pretty much sums up how open-minded you are.
    ...
Lemme guess... you are one of those guys that reads the last paragraph of the last chapter of a book... then, writes your book report based on that.

I'm certain that he knows they are there. In his statement, "We don't have them in Iran, and I'm not sure why they're in your United States, that's your phenomenon" he's making a statement to the Iranian people that the US is this debased, godless culture.

    Got it?

I think the question here is, is it worthwhile for the US to continue to persue open, peaceful dialogue with the President of Iran?
I think the answer is yes.

    No.
    He's an idiot.

Just because his theocratic government run media celebrates his accomplishments and proclaims victory in his facing down the Great Satan in Hell itself to the Iranian people... it doesn't make him smart.
It makes the people who actually believe this shit stupid.

He comes from a different culture and while his ideas on gay people in his country are a little stupid it is not a reason to hate him, or to discount anything else that he has to say.
Keep on rockin in the free world!!!!

The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10% now own 85% of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90% been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy.

The guys the leader of that nation... it'd be as stupid as our president landing on an aircraft carrier and telling us the war is over and won... when we all know it isn't.
