will it be doctors in america giving each and every one of these drivers a drug test before they enter the country?????

    highly doubtful.

why shouldn't the same rules and federal regulations apply to these drivers too?? thats only common sense.

its a scary prospect. nope, i don't think our fearless leader thought this one through. not in the least.

    yet again.
    Nice shirt.

i think the bottom line here is that this move is going to undermine the already disasterous state of the economy of this country.
you have to be kidding right.
and cause a real danger to clueless americans driving on our already clogged highways.
clueless americans? what are they clueless to?

bush needs to be more aware of the impact this will have on all of america. because it will effect most if not all of us in some way.
how do you think it will effect you?

lets all hope these drivers are well trained and have some real experience
    behind the wheel.
    amen to that

i was raised in the trucking industry...my dad worked in some trucking co most of his life...my mom sells insurance to truckers. my dad taught me to drive a rig when i was 13. not because i wanted to grow up and be one (cuz i did) but because he wanted me to respect them when i was on the road. with this mandate tho, i believe that respect may turn to absolute fear.

a lot of american drivers already disrespect big rigs. they don't seem to realize you can't stop a loaded truck on a dime....are totally unaware of blind spots...or how fun it is to drive an empty in a good wind. most good truckers (20 yrs no vio's...i'd say that's makes you a pretty good one speedy.) know to watch for idiots in cars but there's only so much a driver can do. i see these idiots on the cut in the hill on 75 at the ohio river jumping lanes in front of a rig with about 3-4 feet of space then hitting the brakes. there's not a week goes by when there's not an accident with a semi in the area.

plus we already have the truckers who run double logs so they can be on the road more without resting and trucks that don't pass inspections yet are still on the road. so add 7 million more trucks to the roads...regardless if they are mexican or american. accidents and death rates will rise period. take into consideration these 7 million may not know how to read english...know u.s. driving laws or weather patterns (this happened a mile from my house from black ice. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=f61cd_4507 ) and those rates will rise considerably.

as far as legislation and inspectors and such...the mandates are almost impossible to attain in a short period of time or police properly in the first place. secondly, someone always finds a way around every rule.

Yes, tooferz, very well said indeed!

has opened our borders and allowed mexican truck drivers access to all our highways and roads in the U.S.A.......

    hmmmmmmmm.......................

It's hard to take the "War on Terror" seriously when our own borders (the number one defense we have against terrorism) are essentially evaporating.

This (like the global warming debate) is not a liberal vs conservative issue, or it shouldn't be. It is in the interest of all Americans for the government to secure the borders and have strong controls in place controlling who can come in.

And while we're on this subject, yes absolutely I do think we should penalize companies who close up shop here only to open up shop somewhere else. The labor movement should absolute DIVE on this - this is low-hanging fruit that could sweep an election easily. The American middle class is what drives our economy, and losing these jobs hurts that. So yeah, I'm against American companies hurting American workers by closing here and opening there. If that makes me a evil "nationalist," then so be it.

by bush allowing illegal, undrug tested, non-english speaking truck drivers into this country, i think he is acting irresponsibly. i think the repercussions from this will be far reaching. it will effect all of us because the roads will be filled with untrained drivers, causing countless unseen dangers to anyone sharing that same road. and i think most people will be unaware of this.

i have the utmost respect for truck drivers. they perform a essential job vital to the day to day functioning of this country. perhaps mr. bush should attempt to offer job training, for those interested, to the millions of unemployed americans, which would in turn be better for our economy overall.

    just my opinion.

    and tooferz...nicely done.

Lot of our local dumb fucks have been learning this parallel fact about freight trains the hard way recently.........well stated argument, by the way.

we've a had couple here recently as well. i've never understood racing a train across the tracks either. loaded trains take even longer to stop than a semi and do more damage. it's perhaps a 10 minute wait tops. you may be late...but you're uninjured and alive.

and thanks...it's my one lucid thought for the month.
