toaster wrote:Haha. no worries. I just came to think of him today with the Olympics coming up and stuff. Realized we hadn't heard anything off him for ages. Just wondered if you'd heard anything about him in Finland that's all.
maybe there's only the norwegian former top-athlets that are into publisity after they retired then
okay.
at least I haven't heard anything. basically the last I know is that after 2004-2005 season he announced that he had retired from competitive skiing..
hmm, yeah. not that many top athletes get into publicity after retiring.. or if they do, it's mostly some charity work."Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! Norwegian ones tend to make their own line of winter clothing...
that, or commenting the sport they used to participate in.
*shudder*

Hm, yeah he's probably getting too old for that now. Anyway, thanks!
Hm, most of our top atlethes got thier own companies that sells clothes and stuffand that's why they're in media so much. I thought it was the same over there. But they do some charity too. At least I think/hope so.
Ah, you Finnish people, always so giving over there0 -

how great.
if someone over here would do that, he wouldn't most likely be that highly appreciated.
we're not such fans of winter clothing.lol.

is that really what you think?
I'm not saying that we are or aren't but it's always fun to hear what other nations think about us. or assume."Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! Yep.
And former trainers too. Like Finn Aamot, first he was commenting on alpint, and now he's on skating (?) too.Can anyone get that man to talk just a little bit faster? at least preventing him from taking breaks every three seconds from talking?0 -

Hmm, i don't know. I've always thought of you guys as very welcoming and helping other people. But now that I came to think about it, I haven't got a clue why. No offense though, I'm sure you are, I just never really took that much interest in Finnish people. Kinda guessed you were pretty similar to us..?
Still no offense0 -

no offense taken, don't you worry.
I dunno, I guess we are pretty much like you guys.never actually thought about it either.
maybe cause Norway is behind Sweden and many Finns are so busy thinking and bashing Swedes.. (no offense to any Swedes, I don't do that. )

Haha, yeah, we're bashing the Swedes too. (and the Danes, but that's more of a secret.) I wonder who the Swedes are bashing...
Hm, it's weird that Finland and Norway almost have no connection, despite being that close to each other.0 -
okay so, Conan O'Brien landed to Finland yesterday. and was greeted like a rock star.
hundreds of fans were at the airport to welcome him.
after landing O'Brien delivered a speech in Finnish and for what I heard from the news, it didn't sound that bad.
as far as I know, no Finns have yet done anything embarrassing that could end up in his show."Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! why are you bashing them? at least we've got the reason of Finland having been under Swedens control.
I wonder that too.any Swedes here who could tell us?
it really is. but isn't the goal nowadays to tighten up the cooperation between the Nordic countries?"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! Haha, well same thing goes for us. We've been under their control too. Damn those power-hungry swedes, huh?
Yeah, guess it is. About time really. We gotta get off our high horses and start co-operating some more. We suck in that..0 -

oh yeah, right. didn't remember that. way to go me, I should really start studying harder for the final exams.. one of the exams is history.
well, who wouldn't be power hungry? especially these days?
very true my Nordic friend, very true.we need to find some other things we have in common than just bashing the Swedes. lol. and we need to get Sweden in too!

Haha, no worries! Hey, if I weren't from Norway I probably wouldn't have cared about the norwegian history at all either. Seriously, we didn't get interesting until we found the oil
Oh, except for the Viking stuff, but we're not really that proud of that part of our history. I'm sure you'll do great on ur exams.Hell, i don't have a clue about your history, except that you've been under the control of sweden

thank you.luckily I'm taking the history test as a sort of "extra" exam and religion as the obligatory one. I love history but I only remember the interesting parts. lol.
we've been under the control of Russia too, FYI. we "got out" in 1917 and so our independence day is December 6th."Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! lol, yeah, know the feeling! Ah,. hate exams about stuff I have no interest in. I really don't care how they wrote on Iceland 400 years ago, no matter how much my teacher is trying to tell me that it's "quite interesting and useful to understand our modern language today." If I wanted to know, I'd searched for the info on my ownDamn, i'm really not looking forward for the exams.
Hey, I'm getting educated on Finland today! Now I only wish that could one of the themes in my history class0 -

yup.I like searching the info by myself too.
he he. actually I need to be off in a bit (I need to go study  ) but I can teach you some other stuff later.lol.
maybe Finland's history will be one of the themes someday.until that, you can just brag with knowing the stuff.

haha. yeah. well, I've been reading this thread today, so I kinda feel quite educated alreadyand no offense, but for some reason I don't think that bragging about knowing stuff about Finland will make me the coolest kid at school  lol.
Anyway, enjoy studying! Now THAT's a way to spend a Sunday on.0 -
