  • The only thing I agree with in this whole thread is the idea that the color of skin isn't the problem, a specific sub-culture that is found within the black community is the problem.

So since not all blacks are thugs, gangmembers, criminals, welfare mongers, drug addicts or dealers, etc. racism is moot.

Fight the culture, not the color.

Color and culture are almost impossible to separate.

That is as ignorant as saying that all caucasians live the culture of "white trash" and live in trailer parks.

Color and culture are almost impossible to separate.
This is true in the sense that since color (ie race) is COMPLETELY culturally/socially constructed, and is not rooted in any scientific evidence cultural values come to define what someone being white/black/asian/latino etc means. If you don't believe me go check out the scientists who have worked on the human genome project, they all state, without fail, that there are no actual genetic races. There is no gene for black, or white, or latino, or mexican, or whatever, they can't find it, they have realized what most ethnic minorities have known for years, that false science was constructed to keep white people in power (and even then who actually counted as a white person has shifted over the course of history).

As such, color and culture are almost impossible to serparate in our heads, because color IS culture, it's created, and reified, and celebrated/hated by our culture, and often is used directly and indirectly by those in power to stay in power. This is an issue that is very difficult to get your head around, but when you think about it how dark does your skin have to be to be "black", or light to be "white", at what point in being black or white do you get the jumping gene for basketball, the slapshot gene for hockey, or the quarterback gene for football, or the gene to be president of the United States (hey 100% of all presidents were Caucasian does that mean 'white' people have the Presidential gene?). When you pull it apart like that you can see how stupid it is that we assign particular natural traits to particular races which have no scientific evidence to actually existing...it's like believing in god except even more ridiculous since there's actually scientific evidence that refutes it.

It's interesting his reaction to what he saw in that restaurant Sylvia's. I wonder what he would have said about black people if they had dropped a few f-bombs or Mfer's or not dress or "his" code. Do you suppose he would think that ALL black people think and speak and act like this?

If so he's living in a sheltered white world and maybe he needs to get out more into the black community. He may just be welcomed there much more so than when Ahmadinejad was introduced at Columbia University.

  • i was in the ghetto today and it was the most normal ghetto i've ever been to. just like any other ghetto i couldn't believe it was run by white folks, most of the houses owned or rented by whites. they do a good job running that ghetto. i really actually enjoyed my stay.

disagree...you can judge people's attitudes towards race on their merrits...

this whole issue is embarrassing. I have to say I appologize to most posters here, because i made the opposite stereotype of lumping all of you in with the daly kos crowd...and it's clear i was wrong. especially after getting to know many of you.

It's absolutely absurd that we can't actually talk about real issues that matter because of fear. fear that we're anti-american, fear that we are racist, whatever.

This is nonsense. A person can be called a racist by a culmination of their actions more so than a word.....N-word. Example: Refusing to associate with a close friend cause he decides to date someone of the opposite race and hating that friend for his choice. That's racist behavior.

Take a look at Top 10 Facts About Race and we can get a better understanding.

Also at "What is Racism? Who is Racist?"

How easy is it to identify a person's racial and ethnic background?
Now based on my writings here on MT and other boards what would you gather is my race?

Not what I meant. Generally, if I call someone out on blatantly racist things they say, I get called "PC" and accused of being to quick to cry racism. But if someone drops an n-bomb, even if they don't say the silly sterotypical things, I don't have to say anything...everyone else says "racism" for me.
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.
