McCain's Speech (*** YAWN ***)

Either way, I am free to not support the war or the troops. That doesn't automatically make me an A-hole that would spit on a soldier. I respect the role they play and know that they are, and have historically been, pushed into some bad situations.it's all about you...0

SHOCKING NEWS---Rush Limbaugh is on fox News right now, and he thinks McCain did a fantastic, magnificent, inspiring job tonight. I really thought he would not like it.....I mean, in January, he trashed mcCain on a daily basis. I can't believe he is now a McCain supporter. Oh look, Hannity is now McCain's #1 fan. He hated McCain. What's this? James Dobson, who said during the primaries that he would never vote for McCain, not under any circumstances, is now going to vote for McCain.
THIS JUST IN ---- SHOCKING NEWS
Joe Biden is for Obama, even though he said Obama was inexperienced during the primaries.
Try a little harder. Once your party picks a nominee you are stuck.0 -
Max Cleland - that was a disgrace. A person cannot sacrafice much more. The topper being that the attacker is a guy that openly avoided service because of who he was. Only in the USA!
Are we serious. Am I the only one who respected John Kerry more for coming home and speaking out about the attrocity that the Vietnam War was. Who would know better than someone on the front lines. Apparently that makes him a traitor because we have be rah rah about things and morale. I would say that 60,000 of their brothers in body bags really dragged down morale on it's own.it's all about you...0 -
Biden was running for the same 'job' as Obama.
What's Limbaugh, Hannity and Dobson's excuse, an e-mail from Murdoch telling them to get on the bandwagon. They're entertainment broadcasters, they don't have to tow a party line.SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.0 -
I think it started slow, but in the end, it was OK. He's not a soaring, inspirational orator. If the ability to make a goose-bumpy speech is one's No. 1 criterion for electing a president, vote for Obama.
I think, in the end, McCain accomplished what he set out to accomplish with the speech.
The POW stuff is an important part of his narrative ... and it colors the way he would lead ... I think it was important to have in there. We all might have heard it all before, but there were millions of people tuning into him for the first time last night who hadn't.
All in all, the speech was decent. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a Democrat, and that's OK.everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do0 -
Apparently his speech drew higher ratings than Obama's:

carrying water for the water carriers. wow. There's just a bit of difference between someone who's running against someone saying something, and the pundits. These guys flip flopped so fast. They even flip flopped on flip flopping. That was their biggest complaint about Kerry, but they are willing to ignore mcCain's flip flopping. That's flip flopping on the topic of flipflopping. These guys all tried very hard to see to it that McCain was not the nominee, and now they all have to get in line behind him. You're right about one thing. your party is stcu with Mccain. the shame is, if he were running as McCain 2000 he would probably win. But even McCain 2000 would not vote for McCain 2008. He'd be disgusted by him.0 -

correction---entertainment broadcasters who have no credibility now. Not that they had much anyway. especially the junkie who said all drug addicts should be thrown in jail. Until it turned out he is a drug addict. Flip-flop0 -

BTW, if you want to open up that can of worms, we could dig up and discuss--
Mitt Romney's comments about John McCain during their bitchfight that alsted a few months this year
George Bush's comments about McCain from the 2000 primaries, (how McCain is Mr. Washington Insider and he is part of the problem, not the solution) not to mention the black bastard baby smear. ( To think, McCain has gotten into bed with and 69'ed those who were responsible for that story being spread)
The hatred from Hannity and Limbaugh and all their neocon buddies. Now, they would tongue kiss him if he let them. And he would let them0 -

He fought in a war and did time as a POW. I doubt anyone here has done that.
Barack Obama hung out with guys like Bill Ayers and had his face buried in a pile of blow. I'm guessing there are probably some here that have done that.
So yeah Obama probably does have more in common with the liberal Dem.0 -

Don't bother. Everything I've seen from unsung, no offense intended, is that he's a Moving Train version of Hannity.0 -

I don't have any idea.

I agree....McCain being a POW was and is forever an interesting as well as coureageous, compelling factual biography of his life. He has my respect for that....always. But could I pretty please hear that just one more time. No disrepect intended. However - on the opposite hand sits Obama- and he discuscts me more than words could possibly decribe. He makes my skin crawl. I like Sarah Palin - say what you want - don't care. I remain a conservative democrat and or a liberal Republcan. (Same, Same), Decision. decision. I await the debates. Because that's apparently all that matters is if someone served in a war 40 years ago... unless of course he's a democrat. My whole life

I find it quite hypocritical of someone who criticizes one who served their country by pointing out that someone was shot down. Does that mean the person who served doesn't deserve the respect of a soldier?0 -

I'm not criticizing McCain or anyone else who go shot down or whatever. I just don't think that serving in a war that long ago, and spending that horrible time as a POW (as admirable as that may be), really is any qualification to be president.
I just think that the world, our military and everything has changed so much, that serving in Vietnam isn't all that helpful to being commander in chief in 2008.My whole life
