Those Russians love their dictators. They still love Stalin! this guy scares the shit out of me (more than anything going on in the middle east), but the Russians get what they deserve i guess.

    Is anyone really suprised by this move. Putin has been slowly eating away at democracy in that country since he came to office.

    well, at least according to Freedom House, Russia hasn't been considered a free and democratic country for a couple of years now.

    When did democracy actually come to Russia? Sure some people got really rich. But then again that is democracy from south of the border.

    Well i'm not sure about Stalin myself, cause i wasn't even born then. As for Putin i don't know cause i haven't lived there for a while now.

    But you are quite right Russian people like their strong leaders, i would not call them dictators. But just firm leaders that will sort our country out. ;) well.....hehe hopefully *fingers crossed*

    putin would be perfect as one of the bad guys in 24 i reckon. just looking at him you can see the wheels turning. to me he looks as if he's observing everyone in the room and working out how to screw them over without them knowing who even flicked the switch.

    Definitely. I mean the man never renounced his membership to the communist party. Did people really think that after his term was up that he was just going to go off and live a civilian life.

    Good question. That's always the question, isn't it.
    all he wants is to make his country a better place to live in. From statistic that i've heard recently, he's doing a good job.

    Many people in history wanted to make their country a better place to live in.
    And where did I say Russia would be the bad guy? Maybe Russia will make a move that a some country disagrees with or whatever. It could be anything.

    Russia is better off than it was a few years ago economically, but it seems many freedoms and dissenting opinions are pretty much wiped out by now.
