How dare Iran test missiles? After all, you all might as well completely forget about the test Israel ran not too long ago...

But, of course, if Iran does anything, it is condemned. Nevermind the fact that Israel HAS nukes, and PERFORMS "test runs", and actually puts these rockets and jets INTO USE, but if Iran even does a single thing, it's condemned by both the US and Israel.
Obama, the man who's supposed to bring "change" of course responds with one of the most hypocritical statements ever (this coming a month after his speech at AIPAC):
Just goes to show that a war IS happening soon, and once it does, Obama will not do anything about it.

Recognizing Iran as a threat does not mean Obama will take us to war. He has been campaigning on diplomacy and I think we should trust his word until he proves otherwise. Therefore, I do not understand how his comments were hypocritical.“Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.”0

The definition of a hypocrite is:
a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
A person whose actions belie stated beliefs....... yeah, sounds like Obama. He gives full support to Israel in "recognizing the threat Iran possesses" (there is no threat), but completely and conveniently ignores the fact that Israel already has nuclear weapons, threatens the Middle East, and that their past AND present actions shows more aggressiveness that Iran's actions. That is the essence of being a hypocrite.
Also, how can you be campaigning on diplomacy, but then push for tougher sanctions?0

How can you say there is no threat from Iran so matter of factly?
I don't think we should go to war but to say there is no threat like you have all the facts and answers is just wrong.
That said Obama better try the diplomatic approach he's been preaching or he is a hypocrite. There is no way to know until he is in office and is setting his policies.10/31/2000 (****)

What I want to know is, how is Iran a threat to us?If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Lets see, I'm trying to remember which country it is that has actually used nuclear weapons on another country... Hmmm, couldn't be the same nation that's trying to tell others they can't have any, could it? Cuz that would just seem weird.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

They may not be a major threat, but they have been on the US radar since the Shah first took power in the 70's. Since then there's been the Hostage crisis, US Embassy bombing by Hezbollah, US shooting down Iran Air Flight 655 which killed innocent Iranians, Ruhollah Khomeini referring to the US as the great Satan, Bush stupidly creating the so called Axis of Evil, Iran Contra. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States-Iran_relations
It may not be Iran's fault but our relations with them is clearly not the best which makes them a threat when they are developing and testing long range missiles. I also believe the real threat is to Israel who like it or not is one of our few remaining allies.
I'm not including what I believe or feel but just the facts. Personally military action against Iran would be a huge mistake and could lead to tremendous loss of life on both sides. But to say Iran is not a threat to the US or our ally Israel is not accurate.

You're right. We drop bombs all the time. Wait we did it once before anyone knew the full effects.
Since then we have avoided nuclear war with Russia maybe because we knew how devastating dropping the bomb is.
So do you want other countries to try to develop nuclear weapons? That sits well with you.
I wish every nuclear weapon was disarmed by ALL countries including the US and certainly countries like Iran who do not have a stable gov't should not be developing them.10/31/2000 (****)

How does this make Iran a threat? A threat means that they could potentially be harmful to us, which none of the above facts supports. Its Evolution Baby wrote:They may not be a major threat, but they have been on the US radar since the Shah first took power in the 70's. Iran has repeatedly said that they would not attack Israel. So you propose that we do nothing to Iran and forget that they even exist? Iran could potentially harm us and a matter of fact they have by sponsoring and supporting militias/terrorists who have killed US soldiers in Iraq. No one except for the Bush Administration and neo-cons are beating the drums for a potential war. Obama has always promoted diplomacy along with leading Senators Dick Lugar and Joe Biden. I would rather open up a dialog to protect our interests instead of playing mind games and potentially misleading our country into supporting another war.“Don't cry because it's over. Gee, maybe if our soldiers weren't in Iraq/Turkey/Pakistan/Saudi Arabia/etc. they wouldn't be getting killed. Wow! What a concept!
I don't seen Iran supporting militias/terrorists to attack the United States on its own soil.
Point being, Iran would most likely not even be considered a threat if the United States would learn to mind its own business.0

All very true. It's mostly the US's fault that they are a slight threat but they are just that a slight threat. I think there are still a lot of harsh feelings from the older people who remember the Hostage crisis.
I diplomatic President which would be anyone in the election but McCain should be able to smooth things over.10/31/2000 (****)
