Ooops my bad in the context of the question. It wasn't the fifth grader, it was the adult. And the fact that no matter how the question is worded, country, above, USA, should give any tool from down there a pretty good clue as to what they should be answering. ;)

If it would have been to the south they may have gotten that a bit easier as they bitch so much about that race. :D
Sorry, dude, but there is no country above the United States - unless someone finally followed through with Grandpa Simpson's suggestion to form a nation in a balloon. Now, if the question was "what country is North of the United States" then sure.

I agree, this is insane. In fact, it is disterbing to me. That was almost scarier than the first time I saw Silence of the Lambs, just becuase it appears that the dude honestly doesn't know. And then, the audience doesn't either!

How can somebody be at least 50 years old and not know the Moon revolves around the Earth? I mean, does that guy think that Zeus throws thunder bolts when he's mad and the world is flat?

I thought our education system was bad... do they not teach astrology in French schools. Hell, we made planet diagrams and models in early elementary school. Of course the bastards lied to us about Pluto :)

And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth.

that actually IS what the sun and moon do, they shed light upon the earth and they are placed in the heavens. though the "light" of the moon is the sun's reflection off the surface of the moon. it's not a 2007 scientific explanation, but I think that's a perfectly understandable explanation from something that was written around 2500 years ago.

written 2500 years ago by MEN yes... by god? inspired by god... evidently NOT. dont you think god's knowledge of the sun and moon would be up to 2007 scientific standards? and for it to be a miracle for the sun to stand still in the sky is another OBVIOUS indication that this was all made up by people with a no knowledge of science whatsoever... and certainly no by GOD!!!! so... this guy looked pretty ridiculous not knowing the moon rotates around the earth.... but to believe the bible is to believe the sun DOES not sit still in the sky, unless by God's miracle. the person who wrote the bible had no idea that the earth is round, that it rotates around the sun, or that the moon reflects the light of the sun... and rotates around the earth. if current scientific understanding was written 2500 years ago and proved later to be correct... it would be evidence of gods insperation, but it does quite the opposite. it proves it was made up by someone who just didnt know any better.

well, i didn't have it word for word, but close enough.

People like that guy in the first video should just stick to scratch cards or perhaps gameshows where no skill or decent level of knowledge is needed, like deal or no deal.
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.

if you believe Genesis... and the sun can be made (by miracle ) to stand still in the sky for a number of days........

Check out the beginning 20 minutes of Zeitgeist movie ...

the miracle of the sun standing still for three days is actually

the DEATH and REBIRTH of JESUS ... or actually ... it is the inspiration for the personification of astrology that jesus is\was ... around the 22nd of december, the sun reaches it's lowest point in the horizon (From the northern hemisphere) and then for THREE DAYS it "stands still" (or dies) ... then on the 3rd day .... duh duh duh ... December 25th ... CHRISTmas ... the SUN RISES ... (or ... in xitianity, the SON rises ... har har) ... because jesus is really the SUN of god ... but we turned him\it in to the SON of god. because us white folk like anthropomorphic deities, not crazy pagan inanimate ones.

To me, that explains it all right there. How many Jesus's were there? It would seem lots. Also especially where Jesus says: "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life"

    It's all literally speaking!

All movement is relative. The moon's movement in relation to the earth is indeed elliptical and around it. If you don't specify in relation to which object is the movement, you could easily say that the sun revolves around the earth and not be wrong. This guy didn't thought of it that way, though.
