What change? What sacrifice? I am not about to sacrifice simply for the sake of change if that's what you're asking. But if by sacrificing now, I see return on that investment in the future, then sure thing.

In my opinion the answer is no. People have shown repeatedly that only when problems become so far over the norm and cause serious and dangerous results will they pay attention long enough to fix anything. The only way to truly fix our long term issues is constant and repeated participation.
CONservative governMENt
Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis
people want to make money and they want to make money now. so my answer is no.
the rep money making machine wasn't working at this time so they voted dem.
which i'm happy about, by the way!
so some may want change, but i'm betting the majority only cares about making money.

radical... there are many ideas and options.. for example the gas tax
tax all gas sold in the US $1.50 per gallon..
use revenue, not for health care or other welfare for the poor - instead use the revenue to provide better security in the poor neighborhoods - more police.. and more teachers (which of course is more jobs) - make it safe and convenient for them to learn how to succeed in our society
The increased cost of gas will encourage our auto industry to develop fuel efficient cars - it will encourage conservation - and it will encourage innovation the field of cleaner alternative energy - thus reducing our dependance on foreign oil.
there are problems with this - i am not suggesting this is the answer, just an example of how a little sacrifice can go a long way.
Have the courage for real radical change with long term goals realizing sacrifice is required????
Individually, sure. Within a community, some. Within a state, maybe.
As a country, maybe. However, if we elect someone who makes changes then as a group of individuals we have to accept or fight against that policy. There were quite a few policies during the Bush administration, and I'm sure most administrations resulted in people having to change or recognize something that was not recognized in the earlier administration.

Do you ever deal in specifics? If you can outline the sacrifice you are alluding to, perhaps we can give an answer.
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.
