A recent report states that the US has paid $85 Billion dollars (that's our tax money people), this does not include 2008 fiscal year, to contractors in Iraq.

There is no price on the American Dream...Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

In 2003... wasn't the total price tag of Iraq going to be $200 Million?

I agree but I don't think lower taxes is the solution to the problem. The government will still spend recklessly regardless of how much, or how little, we pay in taxes. Lowering Taxes is the governments way of making sure that most Americans stay ignorant to the way they carelessly spend our money."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -
Yeah... Well we got that tax stimulus check, so we should not question where all the other money goes.
We gave our stimulus checks to the polar bears. We figured that was what the government should be doing with it.
It's all imaginary money to the republicans anyway. They print it up every day.the Minions0 -

Last time I checked the Democrats have to vote on every spending bill as well. This is not a Republican or a Democrat problem. It's the both of them fleecing us."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -
Bridges to nowhere, railroad projects to nowhere. Wars on wait, how many fronts is it now? Does it have a front? Uber security at airports, federal road projects...
Campaign trips on US military jets... etc etc etc. it goes on and on.
Everyone wants you to vote the bastards out.... except their bastard.
Ultimately we need fiscally responsible politicans who treat public money as if it were a precious finite resource but... that doesn't get you elected. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -

Except when the republicans want to use raising taxes as a political stance against the democrats, when in actuallity raising taxes is a better solution than pulling money out of thin air like the republicans do.the Minions0 -

I agree that they will always spend recklessly, so why wouldn't the painfully obvious solution be to limit the amount they have to waste?
If they don't have any money to waste, it won't matter if we're all ignorant to their careless ways. The only people we should try to get even with...

They will waste the money wether they have it or not. They spend more than collect as it is. As of the end of 2006 we had a budget deficit of $850-875 billion and that does not take the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq into account. So yes they can lower the taxes and it will allow us to keep a little more money in our pockets but that money will be worth less because the government will just continue to print more in order to march on with their spending."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

Fine then, if the government is just going to spend as they please and print up money out of air, then we do not need any politicians saying anything about raising taxes at this point. The only people we should try to get even with...

My favorite is the Gao or whatever it is called at the moment issued this statement regarding the pentagon's books "the spending is so mismanaged they are inauditable"0
