It's time for a new party

I had been raised to hate the left. My family is mainly right. I voted Republican since I was 18. I have hung out with Dick Cheney in Italy, went fishing with Bush Sr in Malta........I am now 39 and now all politicians make me fucking puke. I did catch the Storytellers and was turned off a lil about the "I hate Bush" theme throughout the entire show. ))C: I believe in free speech but the hate must stop! All parties are guilty of hatred...democrats, republicans, independents, greens, etc.....
I just wish for once we had a good choice other than the same regurgitated crap parties. My fellow American's - we need a sensible peaceful change and to my fellow people in other countries, you all need the same.
Is there such a party that has a chance to revamp the broken down system and make the world/america a better peaceful place, or am I going to have to live with the great divide til I am a wormfarm?

i agree that we need new choices, but under the current system, money talks.. and no corporate lobbyists are going to contribute funds to any 3rd party candidates - or at least not nearly enough to compete with the dems/repubs that they already have in their pockets.
without any drastic campaign finance reform, nothing is going to change.
and also, with the way our elections go (non-auditable, highly munipulatable, computer voting), 'we the people' are no longer choosing our so-called representatives.
our first move is to realize and accept that we do not live in a democracy any more. the next move would be to decide what to do about it.i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam0 -

I've voted for more libertarians than any other party affiliation, and I'm very much a "PJ guy"0 -

I went to a green party rally in DC and listened to Nader speak, back when W. Bush was running for the first time, and it seemed like a mass assortment of LEFT was there. I think a group like that is too radical to ever be considered legitimate. I think whether you are RIGHT or LEFT, both extremes are exactly that, extreme, and ar too much to put your faith into. I voted for Nader anyway, as I felt it was a vote for Choice, more than anything, though I think Nader himself had some good things to say.
Who is the party anyway ? is it the people or the representative. If it is the people, then a group mostly made up of a non corporate majority will never fly in a corporate world that we live in. I think maybe PACs are the way to go. Groups that concentrate on fundraisers and influencing the powers at be. What if a group such as the Green party or the Liberatarians, who will most likely never win a major election, redirected their energy torwards influencing the Dems and together fight unified, and with a stronger voice then they would by themselves. "Whisper though a megaphone" so to speak. All of their ideals may not transfer into everyday society, but if they are not elected, they wont either. By partnering with the DEMs mayeb they can at least get a few ideas in the system here and there. Its better than nothing.
I am all for choice, and a multiparty system. But I think we should consider all possabilities...I scream in affirmation

Its time for a gov't that more truly represents the will of the people..like they do in England I think....it'll still be plutocratic, but at least these grassroots campaigns that get millions of followers will have voice. The idea is that if the greens get 5% of the national vote they get 5% of Congress, Senate, and so on...same with any other party. So even if they lose every single individual election at least the millions of supporters would have representation..with the one or 2 members in office...and they could easily build from that. Or whatever party..as long as its not a corporate sponsored party..0

people talk about extremes not working ... but if an extreme right wing party can be "elected" twice - why not an extreme left?? ... fear of the unknown i guess ...0

What is the libertarian party's view on abortion? I read it at the website, but it's vague. It says they are against state-funded abortions, but then other parts seem to say they do not think it should be banned. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0 -

The libertarian party does not believe in banning abortion.0 -

Why? Are you for banning abortions or are you for eliminating abortions?0 -
All politicians are corrupt and they're all to blame for the decaying of the system... but at the moment the repubs definetly carry more of that blame.. they've taken their majority advantage and completely shut the other party out of congress (essentially).
i hate them all.
we need to stop giving them all those benefits and retirement plans.. and we need term limits.
the get up there and just coast along, gerrymandering and paying off their way into keeping their seats (98% incumbant win rate for the house).
i'm ashamed of them.Come on pilgrim you know he loves you..

The problem with the Republican party is that there is a strong Business orientated part, and then of course the Religious right, which Bush sits neatly in the middle. (and of course you can strongly group organized religion with Business). But that is where the money is. A left extreme group just doesnt have the money to compete. And maybe they are not unified enough.
Things become even more difficult when you have a Democratic party that is more CenterLeft, than leftcenter, and then a growing green party that is left, competing against a repulican party that covers more ground; way right to center.
It literally is a numbers game, both population and money. Republicans have more people with more money.I scream in affirmation

I think it is safe to say that if there were a PJ party, most of us would vote for it...But since there is not, we find our votes spread amongst a group of Parties. We all want similar results, but are spreading our strength between, Dems, Green, Liberatarian, etc. etc.
I voted green the past two presidential elections. Actually I had a write in vote Nader/Camejo last election, I dont think he ran under Green Party. Virginia didnt have green anyway, I dont think.I scream in affirmation
