Nader: Obama 'talking white'

I just find it funny that some people here think Obama can do no wrong...never admitting his shortcomings or mistakes.

I'm not grasping, I posted Nader's own words which are unbelievable. But I'd rather be grasping than be delusional like some people. I know its hard to admit Nader's a huge fraud. Seems like you'll be voting for the lesser of three evils now which is against what you wanted to do in this election. If getting angry at me for showing Nader for the shuckster he is helps you cope then by all means get nasty towards me, I can handle it.0 -
Nader is a 70 year old white guy, what the fuck do you expect.
i am telling you guys, there comes a point when someone is too old to be president, for alot of reasons.0 -

"all eight of them"0 -
Obama has about 95% support in the african american community and will get 95% of the african american vote in november
so i think it is safe to say ralph nader is full of shit... or maybe he is so full of his normal hubris that he thinks he knows better then the blacks which candidate is the better candidate for them :rolleyes:0 -

Exactly and I have already said that I don't agree with Nader here. But I also don't see this as some big deal, eitherIf you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

can anyone explain how what he said is even racist? especially when compared to ppl on this board like RainDog who make a huge deal out of him being the first black president???

Maybe he likes hispanics but not blacks? Maybe he's not racist but just crazy.
I bet Nader has money right now invested in Citibank and the nuclear industry because that is how Nader lives his life -- in hypocrisy.

Now, let's all ask El_Kabong about how great it is to live in that color-blind society he apparently resides in, and that the rest of us can only dream of.0 -
I think that the primary mistake most people make about Obama, including Nader, is that he's African-American. The man is bi-racial; he is not Black. As someone who is also bi-racial, it really annoys me that he's being touted as the first viable African-American presidential candidate. His racial ancestry is mixed, he had a middle-class upbringing (it took him almost 10 years to pay off his student loans--that I can REALLY relate to), and more than any other presidential candidate in history, he is a true reflection of the diversity of the American people. I'm not voting for him because I'm "Black" and he's "Black" (neither of us are, dammit); I'm voting for him because it's high time real change was made in America. McCain is just another war-mongering, big business-accomodating, let's-make-the-rich-richer-and-the-middle-class-and-poor-poorer, good old boys club Republican shill, and Obama is the only candidate who can bring real change. Obama's far from perfect, but I share his idealism and his vision for America, and hope that he's given the opportunity to bring it to fruition.

unlike obama who says he doesn't deal w/ lobbyists when he lets them be his campaign chair and give hundreds of thousands of dollars and change his vote to their demands
also, at least nader isn't saying he'd have a foreign policy like reagan and the first bush! yeah. he's anti-war but will have a foreign policy like theirs?? how is that even possible?standin above the crowd

And Reagan never stopped talking to the Russians despite the tense differences. That's a good thing.hippiemom = goodness0 -

I'm pretty sure you're smart enough to know that Nader wasn't talking about the style in which Obama is speaking but rather who is speaking for.
By the way, there are many definitions of "talking white."
http://www.votenader.org/blog/2008/06/26/nader-on-abcs-this-week-sunday/
Here's our definition, from the Nader/Gonzalez dictionary:
Talking white means telling the white corporate power structure what they want to hear, rather than calling them out and telling them what they need to hear.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.
Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

Of all the things people use to describe Obama...idealistic usually isn't one of them. What ideals has he maintained exactly? If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Regardless of the Coldwar...in which you and I will not agree on. Reagan's documented policies in South and Central America were hideous and sickening. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Obama wasn't talking about their actions, but about what they claimed their policy was.0
