I know lets give mr Rushdie a Knighthood, if he really warrants one and don't get me wrong he showed courage in what he did but really as far as my limited intelect allows me to see using that logic there must be one in the post for Dan Brown as well then!

    I don't recall Dan Brown's life being at risk in the name of free speech.

    but my point really is surely anyone with a brain could foresee how inflamatory it would be to knight salmon rushdie, and if its free speech which makes you worthy then god forbid Peter Tatchel deserves a Knighthood!

    What did the guy do really?He expressed his freedom of speech,we abide by our laws and Muslims abide by theirs.Our laws state that we can criticise whoever and whatever we like at anytime,Salman Rushdie stood up for what he believed in and is an example to the rest of the world not to give in to bullies and fascists.

    I didn't see the people of Iran or Pakistan worrying that their calling for mass murder,rioting and assassination would offend and contradict our ways of life so why should we alter our values to suit them.Just because we're afraid of them?That's how terrorism works,if people stand their ground and refuse to submit to terrorism then terror and intimidation would be useless.

    why is it even news? It means nothing. and the only reason he wrote that book (which was not even good to begin with) was for money. which he ended up making bank with because he ticked off Iran. He'll make even more money now and the queen will take a % of.

    The best way to wind up the entire middle east is in a bright blinding flash that, when the dust settles, all that can be seen for hundreds of miles (and from space) is a huge statue of Bush waving the American flag...

    Then that "proud to be an American" song should rip through the entire region while pies are handed out everywhere...tear soaked freedom pies of course...
