A St. Louis college student has drawn a lot of attention after videotaping a police officer's taunts. After Brett Darrow, 20, pulled into a parking lot at 2 a.m. on Sept. 7, Sgt. James Kuehnlein approached him and proceeded to become angry.

Watch the video and do tell what you think about the incident @ Police Taunts.

After being stopped twice by DC Capital Police over nothing. They said my tint on my rear windows were too dark. When I asked for the specs on how dark it should be got pissed. I told him all these trucks come from the factry like this! I can see why this youngster would want to put this cam in his car. I don't think it's a bad idea and here's more @ The youth wants him fired.

Call me old fashioned, but this situation could have probably been avoided if the kid wouldn't have decided to test the cop. Is it not common sense not to start a pissing match with a cop?! Granted, the guy was being a total dick, but the kid kind of egged him on too.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. You've got it all backwards.

Just on principal I would have kicked that cop's ass.

Never ever take shit from a cop.

    Same situation same scenerio:

I gaurantee if that was me and I said the same things that cop would not have acted that way. He's just a youngster that the cop felt he could bully him. I'm man with some grey hair shockingly already and he would have been more respectful.

What the need for the officer to ask him to get out the car? He didn't ask if was drinking on that night, officers WANT you in that car, seatbelted, car turned off and hands on the steering wheel.

There is no way in hell respecting authority relates to fearing authority. If that's the way you think it is then I feel sorry for you.

fucking with the brotherhood of police is worse than fucking with the kkk and the equivalent of being a pale white nerd saying the N word on a crowded street in compton during a riot. cops are gang members but would never admit it.

I've been arrested enough times to know what cops "are." Also worked side-by-side, cops in the same station while I was employed in the EMS. Cops aren't scary to me. Any more than soldiers are.
If I were that kid I would have asked him what his problem was. And if he continued on with the taunting I would tell him he doesn't want to make his problem my problem....

Exactly this cop did not earn the respect granted him by the badge on his clothes...what an embarassment.

I'm not saying to fear the cop. I'm saying we all know that cops tend to have the whole "man with a gun and a badge" (Glorified G) ego, and so it's no surprise the cop bowed up on the kid. The kid was doing nothing wrong when he was pulled over so the cop really had nothing on him. If the kid would have been a little less confrontational it would have gone a lot more smoothly. I probably would have been lippy too in my younger days, but with age comes wisdom I guess.

I don't think he was lippy at all. He asked the cop a legitimate question.

holy hell...I'm going to get a video camera and carry around, too...this is some scary shit...

and if you watch the tape, I'm pretty sure the kid used his turn signal...

bottom line: that cop lost is cool and acted like a dick...he should be treated accordingly...

Be careful where you video police, some states will arrest you for it.

Here is a good commentary on the need to tape police:

Great stuff, does Police State come to mind?
As noted, police are public servants, paid with taxpayer dollars. Not only that, but they're given extraordinary power and authority we don't give to other public servants: They're armed; they can make arrests; they're allowed to break the very laws they're paid to enforce; they can use lethal force for reasons other than self-defense; and, of course, the police are permitted to videotape us
    without our consent.

It's critical that we retain the right to record, videotape or photograph the police while they're on duty. Not only for symbolic reasons (when agents of the state can confiscate evidence of their own wrongdoing, you're treading on seriously perilous ground), but as an important check on police excesses. In the age of YouTube, video of police misconduct captured
by private citizens can have an enormous impact.

It's critical the citizens can still have the right to video tape police activity. If you drive a car or whatever you could be in any of these situations.
