    Just trying to engage in discourse here. You guys love to dish it out but whine like babies if someone has something to say about it. Grow up.

    You do realize how the "pro Obama people who get their panies in a bunch whenever people try to discuss negative things about Obama" are seen as just as annoying and 'not fun' to some of us don't you? Probably not...you seem only capable of tolerating your own views while pretending others shouldn't be voiced in opposition.

    I tend to keep politics out of social situations unless I'm with good friends (most of whom do not support Nader). It's my OPINION (remember how important those are to you? see-that's a joke!) that political humor just usually is not that funny (Daily Show/Colbert excluded), almost always partisan, and usually ends with people in disagreement.

    Sounds like a great party!

    I'd vote based on what they have done, their experience, and accomplishments throughout their career....so an 18 yr old probably wouldn't be able to impress me too much where that's concerned.

    I just don't like it because of the propaganda it continues to enforce.

    Personally I think Obama/Gore will be at least one of the top five United States administrations to take office. I'm not afraid to say that. But take note what that statement actually says.

    Because of his voting record my conscious does not allow me to support him. I do not know who I will vote for in November, that is still open for me. I do support Nader/Gonzalez or The Green Party: McKinney.

    Oh, and if I were to list the D&R candidates in order of preference Kucinich would be first of course, and Gravel would be second. Gravel is great but there were many reasons I honestly do not think he would be strong enough for the National election along with Most of the other Dems. Obama would come before Edwards and WAY before Ron Paul. Clinton or Ron Paul would actually be a tough choice for me and I would probably go third/fourth party in that situation? Its not easy.

    Durst's article just reinforces language and ideas we should avoid as progressives. As I said what we say and think now is what our future politically reality is built upon. There are some fuzzy things that will naturally be said if you support A over B and C candidates but we have to root our dialog as close to the honest truth as possible and not get caught up in lazy corporate propaganda talking points.

    Let us see! I go through the list.

    Hmmm. . .how many times you can lose and continue to run. . . .During the Kucinich campaign it was frequently said in opposition that he ran once already and a second run was TOO MUCH. See what we get with that one?

    In the rest of it I see:

    The "too liberal left right linear illusion"

    More Nader gave Bush the presidency. . .totally untrue and we should be focusing on how the election was stolen twice and join the movement to regain our right to vote and restore 100% election integrity.

    A hippie statement. . . .more all encompassing culture war talk against a "group" that has gotten it right 90% of the time. Ideas that are the prevalent knowledge base of the progress we have struggled to achieve. Not sure where the line is drawn but derogatory statement against "hippies" has been continual and it quite damaging to the truth of things.

    The "hippie thing" was all about "remembering what we forgot" from the past million+ years of Human cultural evolution anyway.

    Ralph Nader. Still serving life without parole if General Motors ruled the world. That one IS really funny, even more so because it is true. We are all imprisoned in a nightmare reality we have to break free from by GM along with a host of other demented groups with unconscionable concentrations of wealth and power.

    Nader/Nadir as surname. . .just like to say its really cool how his arab-american name is an product of how that culture kept the lamp of science ablaze in the dark. Astronomy has tons of examples of that sort.
    Really cool that Nader can speak the endangered language of Aramaic.

    An old Michael Moore? Hmmm well with the whole age debate that is going on. . .he's in the final 20+ years of his life. . .as long as he seems clear headed to me I would vote for him when he is 80. . .he's not running for the playgirl centerfold.

    The "clear headedness" is an issue though with John McCain or McVeggie. No matter how conservative or Republican you think you are you have to really pay attention to this guy. He's not with it and is going downhill quickly. Think of how he can be influenced and confused. And on top of his slowness is the serious question of his saneness. We're electing the leader of Earth who is empowered by a non-troop alone computerized force that could end life here as we know it. Please take a close look and think about it, thats all I ask.

    Hmmm. . .something about socialists. . . .that's always an honestly used word in politics.

    i have to be honest, i'm not going to read through all this and make any direct responses at all, not because i don't think i could make some good points but because, once again, i only started it for fun. i think the world is a healthier place when we can laugh at things, especially at ourselves, but what the hell do i know?

    I am studying "age" a lot right now in school and there is tons of research coming out of Harvard that suggests people over 50 are really out of touch with people under 50. We are looking at it from a management perspective, but it has tons of social ramifications as well.

    Whether you want to vote or not vote for a candidate based on age, well, that's your own opinion. But the generation gap is there and is very relevant.

    i'd just like to say that i don't agree with alot of what durst said, but i do think it's funny anyway. i think i've shown the same willingness to laugh at stupid shit that is said about obama, providing it was in jest and not some obsurd accusation that he's not patriotic because he doesn't wear a flag pin or that he's secretly a muslim, strictly based on his name being one letter shy of OSAMA... :rolleyes:

    i don't think the fact that nader is ancient is a good reason not to vote for him. i think the fact that he can't possibly win, and that this is a very important election regarding the direction of our country, continue to be good reasons FOR ME not to vote for him.

    i DO think the fact that he's never held elected office has some bearing on whether he could govern. i realize that many senators, governors, etc., are empty suits who never even bother to show up for votes, but i do think that the experience of running for and holding office present certain challenges and display certain qualities that are necessary for judging whether someone might make a competent president. it's not fail-safe, as is made obvious by our current dope-in-chief, but it's a start.

    there are more things i'd like to comment on, but i have to run to a meeting (DAMN work!!), so i'll check in later...
