    I'd say Cormac McCarthy's book 'The road' paints a more realistic picture of a post apocalyptic world. But Mad Max isn't far off in my opinion.

    Anyone catch that TV show Jericho when it was on last? It was one of those shows the network canceled but the fans forced them to bring it back?

    It's really a B show at best, but I got hooked because of the premise of what could happen now to small towns if they were cut off from the world after a nuclear attack, sugar coated of course :)

    I never understood in the Mad Max world where oil is a super rare commodity, why are people driving around all the time in super fast gas guzzlers?

    Maybe its latent satirical commentary on the notion that even in the face of extreme adverse conditions, humanity will continue to be ragingly idiotic?

    Excellent point....such times would really bring out a "live for the day" mentality.
