It seems like they weren't there to see him.

…And NO, the rock star was NOT Barack Obama. Via the blogs:
To the waiting time of…the speech of the presidential candidate….a second stage built on the musical framework programme to take place. The German Reggeasänger Patrice and the German pop band Reamonn 17.30 from occur there. Before and during the breaks, the British disc jockey Mantu.
Snack and drink stalls are also up.
Now we know what it takes to lure 200,000 Europeans to be in Barack-Star’s Photo-Opp: Free Concerts and Free Food!
But was that reported in the US?

blogs aren't news, they're opinion...and that's all and fine, hmmm, Barack drew plenty of large crowds of people that were inspired by him, and wanted to her him speak, McCain can't compete...infact the largest crowd he's had before this week may have been the Sturgis bike rally in Wisconsin, which no one there was there to see him, though him offering up his wife for the beauty contest was funny, considering no family values republican would agree with what the women do to try and get the ms sturgis crown."Music, for me, was fucking heroin." eV (nothing Ed has said is more true for me personally than this quote)

Why did the American news media portray this as an event that these people were going to see Obama when in fact they were there to see two of the largest music groups in the country and Obama was more or less an addition?0 -

Inspired? By what exactly? Hand gestures? or by the speeches he does not even write? I'm sure it's not his voting record that inspires people, because it's not even that great.
I'm really curious to know why so many people are inspired by him....0 -
first it's said that he's too much of a celebrity and the Republicans chided him for speaking to such a large crowd in Europe and bringing home European views ...
now ... he actually didn't draw the crowd?

Because he doesn't look like GW Bush, so its new and people assume he will bring great sweeping changes to our country based on buzz words like "hope" and "change".
I'm questioning even voting this time around.BRING BACK THE WHALE0 -

maybe you should try listening to the plans Obama's offering. and also, what McCain is offering ....and Bob Barr ... and Nadar ... and become educated ...
you know what, on second thought ... don't bother listening to the issues ... and, don't vote ... hooray America!"You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

I voted Nader the last time around. I looked into his platform and desided he was the best pic at the time in 2004.
Just feeling a little discuraged this time around. For every good thing some one does, the left and right have to tear it down to the point were you feel sick to even voting for anyone.BRING BACK THE WHALE0 -

Obviously because there is a massive media conspiracy to make Barack Obama the next President of the United States. As an Obama supporter, I've actually been in these smoke-filled rooms myself. Anderson Cooper was there. I mean, the liberal media has an immense amount of power, and is the largest mover and shaker in Washington. Despite the fact that the no. 1 news channel is the ridiculously conservative FoxNews. Never mind that we've had a Republican President for the past eight years, despite the best intentions of the liberal media. We were just waiting all this time to spin our trap. Now we've got McCain, who is neck-and-neck in the polls with Obama (despite our best efforts, of course), right where we want him.
Or maybe the media's just dumb.0 -
Um... it's actually commonplace to have musical artists/entertainment acts warm up a crowd for a large event like that...0

Look, obviously alot of people went to see Obama because he's Obama. But, a good portion went to see the artists, and then Obama, and for the media to just play it off as though they are all going to see Obama and the musicians had nothing to do with it is skewing the story in a certain light.
