Instead, they revert to ideological statements such as "But have you seen how much ExxonMobil profited last quarter?" or "yeah, but Dick Cheney and Halliburton colluded to..." or "this is a NATION OF IMMIGRANTS, asshole! the only people who can be xenophobes are the NATIVE AMERICANS."

    Most liberals operate off of a grab-bag set of philosophies that have nothing to do with eachother. For example, a lot of liberals will tell you they support freedom for Tibet. Have you ever met a lib who didn't support that?

    And then, at the same time, they are adamantly opposed to "xenophobia." And yet, Tibetan freedom is blatantly xenophobic. Tibetans want a homeland for Tibetans, not chinese and Tibetans. But "Tibetan freedom" sounds good, and so they support it, even though they haven't thought through exactly what it entails.

    Well I can answer that. You ever go to the... well I forgot what the main forum was called, the porch? It is either one of these things: Eddie is God, someone new complaining about senority seating and calling us old-timers assholes for not wanting to lose our newly found seats now that everyone else jumped off the bandwagon, or PJ is the bestest greatest band EVA.

    Hey they are my favorite band, that is why my number is five digits and used to be less. Sometimes though I would rather argue politics with someone smart that I disagree with, than agree with homers who can't see the forest for the trees.

    The people's liberation army invaded Tibet in the early 50s. Since then it has been occupied by China. Tibetans are being oppressed by the Chinese.

    I disagree with that. I thought it through alright and the Chinese occupation is wrong and not defendable. Once we get that injustice out of the world, we can move on to other problems... the xenophobic state of Tibet that doesn't exist right now could be one of those problems. But for now, let's focus on problem that exist, okay?

    What are you suggesting anyway? That the Chinese should get to oppress the Tibetans because Tibetan freedom is "blalantly xenophobic"?

    Anyway, you should know most Tibetans just want to live freely and exercise their religion freely. They are not allowed to do that. You seem like the kind of American that gives great importance to freedom and religion, so you should understand this. They are being denied both.

    hey ... probably 90% of my posts are on this forum ... i agree wholeheartedly ... but it's been known that people get paid to spew an agenda at various boards ... they all are given the same propaganda booklet to post and they all tend to sound the same ...

    What you are saying about liberals can easily be applied to conservatives, libertarians, etc... The problem is not the political ideology but with those that follow it blindly.

    There are people across the political spectrum who behave like this, the idea that this type of behavior is exclusive to those on the Left is crazy. The "religious Right" have to be among the worst when it comes to not allowing oneself to reflect on what one holds to be 'true'.

    That's pretty much a useless question, stubborn people come in all shapes.
    However I'd like to know why the left generally seems to have moral on its side? For instance global warming debates.

    I don't know that they do. Atheism, abortion and a number of other things that for whatever reason usually seem to get attached to the Left, seem to often be thought of by many (not me) as very unmoral acts.

    This thread is a perfect example of my favorite conservative radio shtick... You take a negative attribute that both sides of the political spectrum are occasionally guilty of, and only attribute it to the left. And not only do you just attribute it to the left, but you paint the entire left with that same broad brush.

    Rush has made an absolute fortune doing this, and his dittoheads blindly follow it every single time.


    Anytime that you hear someone start negatively generalizing a group of people by starting a sentence with "Group X (liberals, conservatives, immigrants, blacks, whites, hispanics, Philly sports fans, pearl jam fans, etc., etc., are..." You can pretty much assume that whatever comes after that is complete horse shit.

    Heaven forbid people look at every individual issue out there and have a viewpoint for each one that may not fit within an established "right" or "left" pigeon hole

    I can feel pretty comfortable disagreeing with this, however, given the lack of "black and white facts" presented.
