Actually... that sounds kinda wussy. I know, I'm not getting my ass beat by a woman... and if I did... I'm not reporting it to the cops... which i wouldn't have to because no woman is going to beat my ass.
As for a 'Men's Shelter'... who, in their right mind, would want to stay in a place with a bunch of wussy fucks? No thanx... I'll take my chances out on the street.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Sexism, yea. it exists. In the particular incident, I was minding my own business at school, just chillin' in the hallway skipping class when this girl named Julia sat down on the bench next to me. She was kind of hitting on me, but I showed no interest. A few days later I was hanging with this girl outside of a mall, she was looking at some seventeen magazine or something. She showed me a picture of a model and asked me if I thought she was ugly. To humor her, I said "yea she's disgustingly ugly". Meanwhile, Julia is walking by and thinks I am talking about her. Next thing I know I'm getting jumped by 50 guys. It just so happens her new boyfriend is part of a gang.
That is an example of sexism, but I wasn't being sexist, the girls were. They were being sexist towards themselves, treating themselves as objects. I didn't care what either of them looked like, but they did. They caused the problem, I was just an innocent bystander caught in the warped world of women with serious self-esteem issues.
The guys, they didn't care, they just wanted a target. Someone to take their aggression out on, and it continued for almost a year. By the end of that year, Julia and all of her gangsta friends knew the truth, but they were bent on kicking my ass day in and day out. Her boyfriend Chad actually said "I don't care, you are still fucking dead"
This even elevated to the point where they threatened my parents to their face at seperate times. See how out of hand it got because some girl was self-concious about her looks? That's not my fault, it's hers.
Yes, I've had some real experiences in my life. Not the stupid shit you read in some bias article. Not the crap you see on the news and deffinately not the crap the school or your parents teach you.
let's turn this around. you say the original post was just an isolated incident by a psycho. seeing as how ive never even herd of anyhting like what you described happening, perhaps THAT was an isolated incident? that you met one crazily insecure girl who happened to be dating a thug and got a raw deal?
if anything, your story helps to prove that we still cling to outdated and fucked up gender roles. you point out that the girl was crazily insecure. why? could it have anything to do with the fact that every tv show and ad she sees tells her she's worthless unless she's pretty? could the fact that her gangsta friends were so eager to fuck you up have anything to do with media-induced pressure to be manly and violent and aggressive? your story is not one of women being violent towards men, it's about a woman being insecure and men being violent. they are both problems. im guessing that same bf probably smacked her around as well.
im sorry you've had such a horrible experience. that sounds awful. i didnt mean to say that you hate women, it was just an impression cos you kept referring (i guess to this one girl) to women as psycho bitches. it was only this one girl though i guess and maybe she deserved it. just a miscommunication.0 -

I've been there a couple of times. Did I report it? Nope.
I didn't report it because I didn't see the point. Not just because of the public ridicule or the sociological problems that would follow. My mom beat up my dad. My first girlfriend cheated on me with 18 other guys, or so she says. My second girlfriend threw knives at me and accused me and her dad of raping her. My third girlfriend repeatedly lied to me about her name and an apparent heart problem. All to get my sympathy. The fourth girl I was interested in disappeared for 2 weeks, when she turned up she was dealing crack cocaine and sleeping with some druggies. The list goes on and on. I've met maybe one decent woman in my life of dating. But besides that, there is a lot of underlying animosity towards men, taught at an early age. My mother taught my sister that men were assholes and rapists, she had my sister living in fear that one of her brothers or her dad would try to rape her. My sister ended up a lesbian, when she got over that phase she ended up with drug dealers, one that beat her really bad and caused a miscarriage. The list goes on.
You are right it's a problem with society, but we need to address it all, and not take a situational approach to it, because that just causes more animosity.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. First of all, in that post you quoted I was talking about the damn original article--a point that keeps getting missed here. And was apparently missed in your response.
If you want to fight for all of the man on man violence, that's great. Start a thread, start some shelters for men who get beaten or killed randomly, but I bet they would have had homes to return to. I don't think you're as stupid to miss the point that women's shelters are mostly for women who are beaten and threatened in the home--women who, on the whole, are more financially connected to men in the home because of the sexism that still exists. Sexism that manifests itself in that there are still "women's jobs" that receive lower pay and that women still make some 70-odd cents to the dollar of men in other jobs when they hold the same experience and qualifications, which makes it harder to leave a violent situation when you don't know how you're going to get a new home and buy food and when your self-esteem has been beaten to nil. Sexism that still exists and manifests itself when men think women shouldn't even be working those lower-paying jobs or any jobs at all. Sexism that exists after centuries of a devaluation of women that manifested itself in that women weren't allowed to be educated and attain a job in the public sphere where the men were. Whatever. Forget the stupid remark, no matter what I say it's not going to resonate. It never has, so why would it start now?if you wanna be a friend of mine

That whole gender pay gap depends entirely on what study you read. I've read studies that say the opposite, that women actually make more then men.
Also, there have been a couple of times I would have left my home to go to a shelter, if one were available. My girlfriend wouldn't leave, she refused. She was emotionally addicted to confrontation.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. and if you want to discuss such, great...start a thread. i just don't understand when THIS thread IS specifically about women, why the focus cannot remian on such? sure...i *get it*...injustices exist for men too...but that realy isn't what this specific thread is about? so yea...why not actual offer up some sage thoughts/advice on how to work on this issue....and sure, for the male inequalities...have another thread focus on that? just askin'.
i do not think the existance of this thread insinuates in any way that injustices for males, or for anyone for that matter...do not exist. it is merely looking at a specific issue, one of violence against women...possible targeting of women...etc. so yea, what i don't get...is why can't the convo focus on that, instead of trying to turn it around to be about men?Stay with me...
Let's just breathe...

dude, i dont think your story is quite the norm. that's pretty tragic (and i mean that with total sincerity). i dont even know where to start wading through the problems you point out with those stories. drugs, violence, mental illness, etc.
nobody can address every problem in society with one article though. this article picked one issue and focused on it. that's the only way to get things done... by having people find issues they are passionate about and pursuing them. it sounds like you've got some and you should work to improve them. but that does not discount that other people are identifying equally important issues. you mentioned a drug dealer beating your sister... that shows there IS still violence towards women and it needs to be addressed as some here want to do. you alo mentioned girls beating men and that needs to be addressed. but just becos the people in this thread aren't addressing it doesn't mean they are wrong for addressing otehr issues. if you want to talk about violence against men, start another thread about it.0 -

My point is, everyone is dealing with it situationally. They only care about their situation, they only fight for their situation. We need a blanket approach to all violence. If you say "Violence against women" that mans men are to blame. Likewise if you say "Violence against men" women are to blame. If you say "Violence" you finally have an accurate discription of what is really happening and who is to blame, everyone.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny.
