Germany - Christians (Protestant and Catholic) make up about 2/3 of the population
Canada - Christianity
Hungary - majority religion is Catholicism (50% of population)
France - hard to say. Traditionally a high Catholic population, but more declaring themselves atheist.
Netherlands - high atheist population. Biggest religious group is the Catholics, but with like a third of the population, if that much.
Norway - Christian
Thialand - Buddhist
Vietnam - Buddhist
Australia - Christian
New Zealand - Christian
United States of AMerica - Christian
Of course, these are just based off statistical information, not talking about frequency of attending worship, level of devotion, etc.0 -
Excuse my ignorance but what would you called Christian. you have catholic and prodestant and wouldn't baptists and the like be forms of of Prodestants.
Was vietnam under French rule for a while ?
Would it have a strong Catholic population.
Ireland is mainly split between Catholic and prodestants with alot of atheist's.0 -
I agree, I am a catholic, which means I am a christian. I don't undertand how people seperate those."F**K you, I have laundry to do" -ed0

I never really realised the Germany situation. I know that Martin Luther started the Prodestant religion there but does Bavaria and most south Germany have a strong Catholic following.0

If you where asked you religion would you call yourself a Catholic or a Christian?0 -
I say Christian, then people usually say "Oh what church to you go to?" I say Catholic, and they say "OH."
Actually, I have never been sooooo furious as when I went to my Husband's Baptist church and they were MAKING FUN OF CATHOLICS!!!!!! I was mortafied. These people who are sappost to be godly beings are making fun of another christian religion! My husband said that Baptist think that Catholics are going to Hell.
I am not sure how, but somewhere in History us humans really screwed up religion. I don't think any of them got it right honestly."F**K you, I have laundry to do" -ed0 -
Not sure about Catholicism in America but they was the Penal Laws in Ireland where the catholic church was forbidden. People used to go up to mountains to pray. I know in the middle ages they believed that moon was made of cheese and so fort.0

He He, that is funny. I am was just astonished to see them talking negatively about me. They did not even know me! I don't know, I guess this is just one of my soap boxes."F**K you, I have laundry to do" -ed0

don't know the exact figures...but catholics are GREATLY out-numbered by all denomenations of protestants. and it is a safe assumption that the vast majority of italian, irish and mexican immigrants are at least brought up in catholicism, but if they actually follow the faith/practice into adulthood is debatable. however, christians as a whole (catholics + protestants0 greatly out-number all other religions in this country...altho i DO think that is changing. muslims are growing in #s...and we do have a very large percentage of those of jewish faith...and sure a smattering of just about any religious affiliation out there.Stay with me...

Pardon the differentiation between Catholics and Christians that I made. I was just reciting stats I had.
For the record, I have no ax to grind with Catholics. I myself am a Methodist, but my wife is a Catholic. We're both Christians.0 -

I was always suprised that Mother Thersea was a Catholic seeing that she was India.
What are the differences between the prodestant and methodist churchs.0 -
christianity is divided into two sectors, catholicism and protestantism. under each are various denomenations of such, but still only two main sectors. catholicism is mostly thought of the roman catholic church, but there is also the russian orthodox, and possibly others i am unawares. protestants have more numerous denomenations, methodists, lutherans, etc.
i am sure in most of the worlds religions it is the same. there seems to be many different denomenations, or ways of practice, of judiasm, muslims, buddhists, etc.
*edit - correct term, thanks to dkst0426, the vocab escaped me at the time of posting.Stay with me...
