  • Beatles - All You Need Is Love

    Love, Love, Love.
    Love, Love, Love.
    Love, Love, Love.

There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game.
    It's easy.

Nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time.
    It's easy.

    All you need is love.
    All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
    Love is all you need.

    All you need is love.
    All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
    Love is all you need.

Nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
    It's easy.

    All you need is love.
    All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
    Love is all you need.

All you need is love (All together, now!)
All you need is love. (Everybody!)
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need (love is all you need).

    Yee-hai!
    Oh yeah!
She loves you, yeah yeah yeah.
She loves you, yeah yeah yeah.
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

  • Got the new Ani in the mail today!!! This one is for her, she's been quite an inspiration, showing me how to live much stronger.

willing to fight - ani difranco

the windows of my soul are made of one way glass
don't bother looking into my eyes if there's something you want
    to know just ask
i got a dead bolt stroll
    where i'm going is clear
    i won't wait for you
    to wonder
    i'll just tell you why
    i'm here
    'cause i know the
    biggest crime
    is to just throw
    up your hands
    say this has nothing
    to do with me
    i just want to live
    as comfortably
    as i can
    you got to look outside
    your eyes
    you got to think outside
    your brain
    you got to walk outside
    your life
    to where the neighborhood
    changes tell me
    who's your boogie man
    that's who i will be
you don't have to like me
for who i am but we'll see
    what you're made of by
    what you make of me
i think it's absurd that you think i
    am the derelict daughter
    i fight fire with words
    words are hotter than flames
    words are wetter than water
i got friends all over this country
i got friends in other countries too
    i got friends i haven't met yet
i got friends i never new
    i got lovers who's eyes
i've only seen at a glance
    i got strangers
    for great grandchildren
    i got strangers for ancestors
    i was a long time coming i'll be a
    long time gone
you got your whole life to do something
    and that's not very long
so why don't you give me a call
when you decide you're willing to fight
for what you think is real
for what you think is right
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

    Changes IV

    Don't you feel a change a coming
    from another side of time
breaking down the walls of silence
    lifting shadows from your mind
    Placing back the missing mirrors
    that before you couldn't find
    filling mysteries of emptiness
    that yesterday left behind

And we all know it's better
    Yesterday has past
now let's all start the living
for the one that's going to last

Don't you feel the day is coming
    that will stay and remain
when your children see the answers
    that you saw the same
when the clouds have all gone
there will be no more rain
and the beauty of all things
    is uncovered again

Don't you feel the day is coming
and it won't be too soon
when the people of the world
can all live in one room
when we shake off the ancient
shake off the ancient chains of our tomb
we will all be born again
    of the eternal womb
  • why?

because you are too closeminded to accept that there are 2 sides to the view / argument?

it is vulger attitudes such as your statement that cause tension in the world
Vulgar? Attacking this thread with bullshit is tactless. Sure you can post what and where you want, but it's in poor taste to try to bring us down when we're trying to be hopeful about the possibility of peace. Like I said before, every other thread on this goddamn board is filled with war and hate....how about we just let this one be?

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....

And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....

For no real reason other than to find the sickest lyrics I could post ;)

    Fucked With A Knife
    by Cannibal Corpse

    No escape from your fate
    Destined to be mine
Every night I wait to see
    In the night, watching
    Stalking your every move
    I know when you're alone
    All alone

    Tied tight to the bed
    Legs spread open
    Bruised flesh, lacerations
    Skin stained with blood
I'm the only one you love
    I feel her heart beating
    My knife deep inside
    Her crotch is bleeding

She liked the way it felt inside her
    Fucking her, harder, harder

She liked the way it felt inside her
    Fucking her, harder, harder

    Stick it in
    Rip the skin
    Carve and twist
    Torn flesh
    From behind
    I cut her crotch
    In her ass
    I stuck my cock
    Killing as I cum

That's a good one. It was the first political song I had ever heard, in fact it was the first "pop" song I had ever heard when all my parents listened to were either country radio or... well organ music at church. My music teacher played "Blowin' In The Wind," in 3rd grade at a private Catholic school and it more or less altered the course of my developmental history from then on. I remember even at that very young age, "getting it."

    that:
There are men who control everything from religions, schools, and even the whole armed forces I had until then only seen in war movies my dad used to watch. These men professed faith in whatever it was that they sought to accomplish control over - from religions, schools, and those armed forces - but were never able to attain it, hence people still don't know who/what God is, they would still be more or less apes if there were no schooling/education, and there will always be war as long as there are armed forces! Quite the revelations for an 8 year old. I didn't exactly have a good running relationship with my dad, hence I was already ready to figure thing's out on my own, almost always in pursuit of some empirical explanation for most of the thing's other maybe take for granted.

That the answer's were indeed "Blowing in the wind," that they were already there, but we as a society must alter our perspective as a whole in order to achieve some sense of order. I kid you not when I say when I heard that song, everything changed - until then all I knew was the totalitarian regiment of school, play, school, play, abuse, play, abuse, play... Now I'm ready to get to know anything, even that humanity can be changed, and that the last breath of this military-industrial complex can't be too far off. And Dylan is coming out with a new album too! It's called Modern Times, apparently.

    And now, Sleater-Kinney:

they tell us there are only two sides to be on
if you are on our side you’re right, if not, you’re wrong
but are we innocent, paragons of good?
is our guilt erased by the pain that we’ve endured? endured?

hey look it’s time to pledge allegiance
I love my dirty Uncle Sam
our country’s marching to the beat now
and we must learn to step in time

where is the questioning, where is the protest song?
    since when is skepticism un-American?
dissent’s not treason but they talk like it’s the same
those who disagree are afraid to show their face. their face.

let’s break out our old machines now
it sure is good to see them run again
    oh gentlemen, start your engines
and we know where we get the oil from

    are you feeling alright now?
    (is this why we unite?)
paint myself all red, white, and blue
    (reasons to unite)
are you singing let’s fight now?
    (if you hate this time)
    innocent people die, uh oh
    (remember we’re the time!)

show you love your country go out and spend some cash
red, white, blue hot pants doing it for Uncle Sam
now flex your muscles show them we’re stronger than the rest
raise your hands up baby, are you sure that we’re the best?

we’ll come out with our fists raised
the good old boys are back on top again
and if we let them lead us blindly
the past becomes the future once again

    are you feeling alright now?
    (reasons to unite)
paint myself all red, white, and blue
    (is this why we unite?)
are you singing let’s fight now?
    (if you hate this time)
    innocent people die, uh oh
    (remember we’re the time!)

are you singing let’s fight now?
    (there’s reasons to unite)
    innocent people die, uh oh
    (is this why we unite?)
    know that we’re the time
    (if you hate this time)
    know that we’re the time

Artist: Zack de la Rocha Lyrics
    Song: We Want It All

    There they are now
    The master of law

Throwing flowers on a casket of our broken dreams
    Most thieves are silent
    But these ones scream
    These ones scream

    We want it all

    We want it all

I heard you talkin' my friend
I think you lost your mind
    That somebody's listenin'
    And then biding their time

    Somebody's watchin'
    Cause we wouldn't fight
    For someone else's war
Could you hold on a second
For a second someone's at my door
    Screaming hate is love
    And fiction is fact
    Honesty is deceit
    That silence is security
    And war is peace
    'Cause we want it all

    We want it all

    Mudhoney, Hard On For War

Can you hear the little girls asking
Daddy where have all the little boys gone
They don't meet us at the mall
Daddy where have all the little boys gone
The little girls, they ask me
They don't tease us in classroom

They have left us all behind
    The little boys are fighting
    The little boys are dying
    It's our patriotic duty
To preserve our way of life
    To make sweet love tonight

    See these lovely lonesome ladies
    All these lonely lovely ladies
Keep on kockin' on my door
And it's so easy to score
I'm the only game in town
    They don't ignore me anymore
Now i know why dirty old men are always pushin' for war

Now i know why dirty old men are always pushin' for war
I've become a dirty old man with a hard-on for war

    My time has come
Sounds like they're playing my song
    On the altar
    My picture
Will be there while im gone
    There'll be time for laughing
There is no time to cry
    Soon I will be leaving
    Look me in the eye
No matter what's in front of me
It's your face that I'll see
And the future of our young one
And this is what fuels me
    There's no time for laughing
    There's no time to cry
    Soon I will be leaving
    Look me in the eye
    The oath I took
    Not so seriously
    The worlds gathered steam
    And caught up with me
    And my decisions been made
    Some other place
    By someone I don't know

    The rhymes of revolution
    Poetry written in gasoline!
    The rhymes of revolution
    Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

    Manipulate the obvious
    Cowards bought by traditionalist manners
Scream at the herd that are heard the most
Without substance and with useless... banners
    Banners, banners, banners

Your art, your art, is worth, is worth nothing
Like a city with no meaning
Like a city, with no meaning, with no meaning
Your creation holds, holds no hope

    The rhymes of revolution!
    Yeah! Yeah!
    The rhymes of revolution!
    Poetry written in gasoline!
    Poetry written in gasoline!
    Poetry written in gasoline!
    Ah! Yeah!
You had a witness over there!

    "Poetry Written In Gasoline"
    By Refused.

    Poignant, powerful.
"You had a witness over there."
But then someone blew them up.

Now nobody knows, whether you are a friend or foe.
Nobody knows, whether we are their friend or foe.
Because we're American, we don't see the obvious.

Unless it is manipulated to reflect our own narrow-minded congress.
Unless we take the lead, we're served our nations' actions as seen from the backseat.

While they criticize, we're blind. While we nationalize every international issue, we forget about the rest of them, our neighbors in the land outside our congress.

They attack, we retreat. Then we attack from our blind-spot, we're sending out our bombs from the darkest centre of Oz. Because we killed the witness - we've lost their point of view, we're one sided, all war.

I don't believe anyone knows whether we are a friend or foe. I think that's why there's still war. All anyone knows is everyone is up to something.

The terrorists use counter-terror, counter-terrorists use terror. It's unwritten poetry in gasoline that we create our own enemies, that we have no allies nor do we allow our enemies any allies - that's why there is unconditional war, because no one can win, even the successor of the fight will lose casualties and lose faith.

    Victory is a simulacrum.
You've lost once the war has begun.
You've lost the war, because you didn't prevent the war.
    You've lost lives and allies.
    Victory only means you've survived.
    Your men are dead.
    So are your feelings.
War should be prevented - that's the course of government.
To provide protection is to prevent war from ever happening.
    Otherwise you've invited that mishappening.
To accept war as the only candidate, is to allow the rule of archaic terrorism and subversive despotism - to play their game, to lose your lives, unconditionally no one wins.

So, "Poetry Written In Gasoline," might mean:
    Victorious war is invalid.
Once the bombs go off, we've already lost.
Try, try, try to hold on...

Run on for a long time

Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down

Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee talkin' to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "John go do My will!"

Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
    Tell the rambler,

Workin' in the dark Against Your Fellow Man

Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
If you keep yourself as the final arbiter you will be less susceptible to infection from cultural illusion.
  • And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones to start
    To mould a new reality
    Closer to the heart

    The blacksmith and the artist
    Reflect it in their art
    They forge their creativity
    Closer to the heart
    Yes, closer to the heart

    Philosophers and ploughmen
    Each must know his part
    To sow a new mentality
    Closer to the heart
    Yes, closer to the heart

    You can be the captain
And I will draw the chart
    Sailing into destiny
    Closer to the heart
    Closer to the heart
    Well, closer to the heart
    ...
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
  • If you could blow up the world
With the flick of a switch
    Would you do it?
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah)
If you could make everybody poor
Just so you could be rich
    Would you do it?
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah)

If you could watch everybody work
While you just lay on your back
    Would you do it?
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah)
If you could take all the love
    Without giving any back
    Would you do it?
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah)

And so we cannot know ourselves
    Or what we'd really do

    With all your power
    With all your power
    With all your power
    What would you do?

    With all your power
    With all your power
    With all your power
    What would you do?

(No no no no, no no no no)

If you could make your own money
And then give it to everybody
    Would you do it?
(No no no no, no no no no)
If you knew all the answers
And could give to the masses
    Would you do it?
(No no no no, no no no no)

    Are you crazy?
It's a very dangerous thing to do
    Exactly what you want
    Because you cannot know yourself,
    Or what you'd really do

    With all your power
    With all your power
    With all your power
    What would you
Do do do do, do do do do [x6]
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah) [x26]

    With all your power
    With all your power
    With all your power
    What would you do?

    With all your power
    With all your power
    With all your power
    What would you do?

    With all your power
    With all your power
    With all your power
    What would you do?

(I quit, you, you... I didn't make it all the way through that.)
