Hello everyone,
I know it has been a long time since someone posted a message on this board. But I am just wondering if someone knows how I can meet some Finnish people in or around the Los Angeles area?
At this point in time, I really don't have the money to go all the way to Finland. But I do know that alot of Finns tend to settle in states like Michigan, Minnesota, or Wisconsin. Even if anyone here knows people who are of Finnish descent, please let me know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.0 -

I'll try.
Nowadays because of Nokia and the hi-tech industry in general i think most of the Finns moving there come to California. I have a cousin who has lived in San Diego for a decade now and a friend just moved to San Francisco a year ago. Haven't really been in touch with them lately so I'll just have to post stuff i found online. It said somewhere that there are at least 60 000 living in California so i'm sure they have a community of some sort in L.A too.

thanks for jumping to the rescue."Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."0 -

I'm actually afraid of them.
knives are sorta a part of some national costumes, but it's nowadays illegal to carry big knives around. but the Swiss army knives (like the one MacGyver has) are a big hit.
well, vodka. some people do drink it like water and drinking is quite a big problem here. especially amongst middle-aged men.. but not all of us are drunks.
we do have people who don't drink at all. but that whole vodka-thing, it's something we're known for.. sadly. :( I guess the whole drinking-thing is.. should I say, misquoted.
snow. we have a lot of snow in Lapland (you know, where Santa lives.) and of course in winter a lot here in south too. I guess the situation is like in Norway. not huge amounts, but quite much (especially in Lapland). depending on the winter of course.
satisfied?
it is true..i have plenty of those.0 -

I don't know or care who Ron Paul is.. (name does ring a bell but can't find it.) so I can fairly surely say you would be spared.
I AM coming to Dublin for Paddy's!! just need to book me some flights."Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."0
