Speedy is apparently gonna get fucked over right before our own eyes. Mandated by Bush. So, folks, we need to take a minute and think about what all this entails.

You're the one who brought it up. It's your livelihood at stake. You're going to have to keep us informed. There was nothing to bite in that.

i brought up the fact that mr. bush has opened up the highways to mexican truck drivers....

which is good.... BECAUSE YOU thought this has been going on for years....

so i educated you.....which is always good....

    my livelihood is at stake???

im pretty sure my 20 years experience in the trucking industry with no violations kinda speaks for itself......

it wont change a fucking thing in my world......

but all you people driving cars on american roads dealing with 7 million trucks coming here from mexico with drivers who may have a slight problem reading road signs and being able to drive in the different weather patterns here in the U.S.A..........might wanna check you mirrors a little more often and drive a little more cautious........

cuz it could get kinda ugly out there on the american highways.........

So, you're saying if you think that if 7 + million Mexicans driving cars on our roadways was bad enough, wait till they get here in their big rigs?

I have to drive in an area with a large influx of Mexican and other Central American immigrants.........I understand where you are coming from.....many don't understand the language, thus the street signs, many lack any clue regarding the rules of the road and the majority lack little things like a license and insurance.......I see that problem. The idea of these same people or people with the same issues driving big rigs on our roadways......yes, it is scary.

Over the last years, the Birmingham area has had a severe problem with big rigs dropping large coils of steel on the interstate. The fault of which probably lies at the feet of the steel plant, the trucking company, the truck driver and the cars on the same roadway as the truck. I can already picture the steel mills hiring Mexican drivers to save a buck in hauling the steel. God, what a disaster.

Not a racist thing........just pointing out what you have pointed. The lack of understanding and familiarity with our language, our culture and our rules of the road are all problems. I would drive equally as bad in France or Italy since I don't read or speak the language or know their rules.

i see the death toll on american highways rising in the next year.....more trucks is gonna equal more deaths......that is a given....

ICE.....SNOW.....SLEET.......ya dont see much of this in mexico.....

this program is going to be implemented for a year.....then reviewed...

it is gonna be interesting to see how it goes....

I go back to my point mentioned in the linked article from the maritime union....where is the money for the inspectors going to come from? 32,000 new employees/inspectors is a pipe dream.......say the average cost to the state/federal gov is $30000 a year per inspector, that times 32000 is equal to $960 million dollars a year!!!!

i think the bottom line here is that this move is going to undermine the already disasterous state of the economy of this country. and cause a real danger to clueless americans driving on our already clogged highways.

bush needs to be more aware of the impact this will have on all of america. because it will effect most if not all of us in some way.

lets all hope these drivers are well trained and have some real experience
    behind the wheel.
    Nice shirt.

Growing up, I dreamed of becoming a Mexican truck driver inspector.
