i think there would be a barrage of firepower so powerful against the approaching craft they wouldn't get the chance to land and either the world would be less one family of aliens and their vehicle or washington d.c. is incinerated. as for religion i'm stumped?Oh dear dad
 Can you see me now
 I am myself
 Like you somehow
 I'll ride the wave
 Where it takes me
 I'll hold the pain
 Release me0

Maybe Aliens are a little unlikely- but what if SETI (Search for extra terrestrial Intelligence) were to recieve that long awaited signal?
I would like to think that it would be such a profound experience that it would forever change humanity for the better. I doubt it though...
As for religion- I guess those who take their respective texts as literal would have the hardest time accepting and adjusting.
Personally, I find the probability so overwhelming that I kind of take it as a given that intelligent life is abundant throughout the universe. I doubt we will ever come into contact with it though, but I would like to think we will keep trying.0

Aliens landing might be the only thing that could compell the people of the world to pull together as one species.
I don't think I want to wait around to see if my theory is right though. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 &&&&&&&&&&&&&&0

If aliens actually land, I hope they don't choose the white house, it'd be a shame to have our first aliens die and then retaliate because of anti-terrorist measures.
I also think that if they do come we would have plenty of "it's the end of times woohoo" talk and religions would definitely go through a period of high popularity. On the other hand if we make contact with them questions will arise and organised religions will have some tough explanations to give.0

If we scientifically learn of inteligent alien life.. people are taking my question too literal.Kann wrote:If aliens actually land, I hope they don't choose the white house, it'd be a shame to have our first aliens die and then retaliate because of anti-terrorist measures.

Sorry, that was a poor attempt at a joke. If we learn about aliens, religions (the 3 major ones at least) will definitely have some explaining to do. And, like the discovery that the earth is not the center of the universe, they will loose that many more customers.0

religion would probably say that God sent aliens to Earth to 'test our faith'you're a real hooker. im gonna slap you in public.
