Shock jocks say all sorts of stupid shit. And I essentially agree that OJ's celebrity was the reason that murder was coverd outside of its local. But if you're in an urban area, watch your local news for a while, you'll see some unknown blacks covered.
As for the race card, the only way I can play it is to say though all of this little fighting back from white America, I am certainly not thinking I'd have been better off being born black.
I agree with you that the Imus incident itself was definitely about race. But I'm suggesting the coverage of the incident was about his celebrity. Some mid-day jock in a 3rd tier city would have never received the coverage Imus did."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -
NO FUCKIN WAY i'm not just like them i would never ever, ever hurt an innocent person in my life for the entire world. these people are animals and other animals like them need to face more harsh realities than prison and then just maybe I STRESS MAYBE... fucking animalistic pigs like this might keep their sick demented fantasies inside their heads and not really act them out. it's soft hearted peple like you that help keep this type of shit happening. these people are the lowest of the low and i'm sick and fucking tired of paying taxes to keep these animals in cages. i'd rather my tax money be spent on a deterrent that just might work.callen wrote:your just like them...freakin ironic isn't it.Oh dear dad

At least you stressed maybe because there ain't no deterrent in the world that can beat a strong will. Not trying to justify what happened but come on man if the bomb in Japan didn't stop people from wanting more power or taking over the world. And the death penalty dosen't stop "animals" from committing the same types of crime. What makes you think that a form of torture on the culprits is going to help in any sort of way?
Just read the other thread on those beasts from the middle east and that little girl who got beaten for falling in love with somebody who, god forbid, isn't like them. Strong will my man beats anything. You've changed your place in this world!0 -

Also, this is pretty sick. It's one thing to say you feel they should get the death penalty but wanting to see them tortured in the most cruel way and actually watch it on tv, is very very sick.
The crime these people commited is one of the most heinous things I ever heard about. Not only the crime but the fact that it was commited by a group of people is so sick.
Yet I believe no matter how awful someone's crime is, the person who commited it is still someone's father, mother, brother, sister, daughter or son... and you're asking that their family should suffer as much as the families of the victims.
It's a sick society we live in and I don't think crimes like these earn anyone the right to stoop to the criminal's level, it's the lowest point you can be at, it's everything you hate and yet you're advocating it.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

Disturbing story to say the least.
However, am I the only one that noticed the big disclaimer in parantheses halway through the link, where it says that this is how the case was presented, but numerous details were wrong and subsequently modified?
They were still murdered and probably not in a nice way, but it seems some of the details were juiced up a bit more than called for...
Anyway.

It does say that even though there may have been embellishments that they were still tortured and then killed. So if they were tortured a little less than reported, I guess I can feel a little better about it. Or not."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -
But precisely some of the embellishments, is what makes up the shock value of it. It's still murder and not something to just blow off, however, with the dynamics of hearsay, rumour and the inevitable exagerrations of these types of stories they are put forth a lot worse than they really are. (Even if they are bad regardless) I think that's a sort of lying and driving up a moral outrage larger than really called for.jeffbr wrote:It does say that even though there may have been embellishments that they were still tortured and then killed. I just felt that it needed pointing out, as most comments here seemed to swallow the story whole, without heeding the disclaimer which basically say that everything apart from murder and kidnapping the girl may be bollocks. Not condoning murder and kidnapping, mind, but neither does it need some spectacular extras to really make it "juicy" and fit to shock the public.
Peace
