Politics of HPV Vaccine: OUTRAGEOUS

Ok, so as most women here will know, insurance won't cover HPV vaccinations for women over 26 because the FDA didn't approve it in women over 26. Why, you might ask, that doesn't make any sense. well it was a political decision based on the idea that by age 27, all women should already be married. Yes, I will repeat that: it is based on the idea that all woman over 27 should already be married. and for good-apparently there is no such thing as death, divorce, or cheating in this world the FDA lives in. Women who are not married by 27 have clearly been so promiscuous in their lives that they 1) have already been exposed to harmful strains of HPV or 2) don't deserve to be vaccinated. Therefore, for every women over 27, the cost is $300 out of pocket to protect yourself. If a 27 year old woman has NEVER had sex but plans to some day, and has therefore not been exposed at all, she has to pay $300 for a vaccine that a 26 year old gets for free. Furthermore, while you can test for HPV, there's no way of knowing if you have the kind that causes cervical cancer, so even if a woman has slept with many men, she could still very much benefit from this vaccine!

this is RIDICULOUS, outright DISCRIMINATION. Basing an FDA approval on outdated sexual morals and stereotypes (not to mention arbitrary ages) should be ILLEGAL.

start writing those letters people.

    Isn't it kind of like mandatory vaccinations in order for kids to go to public school?

    another way to delete a massive population explosion, as well as imprison "negligent parents"{people} to fill up all those detention camps;

    i believe here in ontario - they are awaiting for some studies to come out before making the vaccinations mandatory ... at least - that is what i recall being the latest ...

    The part of me that wears a tin foil hat, thinks a cancer vaccine should be voluntary.

    The cancer survivor in me thinks it's a really good idea.

    I am not a woman, but I wanted to add in my two cents.

    I think that without a doubt that it should be voluntary, to me making it mandatory sets a bad precedent. Where will one draw the line with mandatory vaccinations, it should be to the individual (or guardian I guess in the matter of children).

    To me this is not just a matter of health but one of where the proposed mandatory direction will take the next "cure".

    I quote cure because I am not sold, is that the paranoia inside of me talking...no just that science is not always correct, especially science mass produced to the market under the guise of instant cure.

    Just like the flu vaccine (which I think is absurd for all young adults and will only hamper your naturally developing immune system in the future) it should be voluntary.
