    I think McCain KNOWS condoms prevent the spread of HIV, but supporting contraceptives is against a the Christian mentality of abstinance. He is trying to appeal to his core audience, folks.

    I don't know who he's trying to appeal to anymore. He has pretty much alienated everyone who would have ever voted for him in the first place.

    He was trying to avoid the condom question. He doesn't want to advocate them because his hardcore Christian audience would be alienated. But now he's kind of irked everyone else because he's made himself appear ignorant.

    Is he the guy they think is gonna get the Republican ticket? Things are looking better and better for the Democrats :)

    Nah. Giuliani is on top of the polls right now. Although it's early. Gingrich and Romney are both able to pull ahead of McCain.
